pay more and get the 310, that has the TWO HDMI outputs? The 310 was replaced by the 320, but it does not have two hdmi's, which surprised me.

I went to BB today and they did Not have model 310, said it had been replaced. I know I can find it elsewhere, esp online, but need to know if I should spend the xtra bucks.

I am Not technical and what my understanding is that the two hdmi's helps because there will be a dedicated line to reciever and the tv, instead of shared. Please forgive my ignorance, but if you could help I probably will get my first Blu Ray player asap, after I price shop.

OH
SO: do you think any of the units I've posted about here WOULD be able to play this format? Hard to tell. Thank You ahead of time for any/all help p.s. one thing cool about the pawn shop, I could try my discs out on the available players cause they were previously owned, couldn't do that Wal-mart !

310 sucks due to Netflix black flashes. I would avoid it. Dual HDMI is only needed if you receiver won't pass 3D. Do you have a 3D tv?

Your DVD+R probably won't play because they were never finalized on the device you used to record them. If you do that, they will play in any player. If you simply put files on the DVD like avi, etc., then no US panny will play them.

I have a vintage AV receiver, 1990, and WILL be purchasing a new AV receiver in near future. Wanted the BD so I could at least play my music CD's while I built my surround sound system. # I thought the dual HDMI output was the way to go cause of dedicated sound/pic plug in. Not sure what 3d reciever does affecting one or two outputs, as I am not technical. Doesn't the two hdmi's account for more than 3D use?? I just thought since I was buying, getting the 2nd HDMI output would be the way to go, so I'd have capabilities, ones I'm not even aware of !! lol.

Could the Netflix glitch be fixable by a later patch or fix by co?

I do Not have a 3D tv, its just HD, and I'm not really interested in 3d.

The dvd-r were supposedly finalized, just won't play on my Panny dvd player. Some decks just won't play them, which is why I bought the used Curtis player that does.

The Pan 310 is getting hard to find, I found one at B + H for $179., cause the 320 does Not have two hdmi's. I will check out the Pan 500, see if it's way to go or get more for the money in addition to the two hdmi's. Please read and advise, your help has been why I can go forward in my efforts to get my stereo listening back AND build a home theatre. I have to buy by the piece, so taking some time. I don't even mind refurbed cause I am trying to build a mid-priced system. I have the left/right speakers and that's about it!! Have a ways to go. ha. THANKS>

debnova, you don't need the 310 because you don't need dual HDMI outs. The ONLY reason for dual HDMI outs is to send a 3D video signal over HDMI to your 3D display and an audio signal over HDMI in parallel to your non-3D receiver. All you need is the Panny 220 or the Sony 390 or 590.

Billp: I was told having an audio video output using the two hdmi's would provide better sound and picture since they each have decicated line.

Better sound is what I was trying keep. Your saying the 2nd hd outlet ONLY helps with 3 D ? I'm getting two different explanations, no offense.

Thanks B, again I appreciate your help. I was overly concerned, perhaps, because right now I am buying a BD so I can listen to CD's. Then I hope to build a surround system. When looking at the Panny BD's I looked at any improvements, so I'd be ahead of changes that might come in future units- I know this is kind of futile, but I usually buy equipment and KEEP it, not upgrading that much until it really becomes an issue.

Right now, I'm looking at the Panasonic BD's, can't afford the OPPO although it appears to be superior in a lot of ways. SOOOOOOO, now I can go forth and try and buy the best Panny without going overboard, ha. IF the newer 500 has truylly superior sound, reviews love it, I would consider it even though a 210, 220 is cheaper But I'll ignore any idea of multiple hdmi's since I won't use 3d. . I am going to check the specs (best I can) and see IF there is noticeable features I WOULD want. Any thoughts from the forum, welcome.

THANKS again BillP, that's why I do come here to learn.***** Not trying to doubt your or anyone elses expertise, it's MY ignorance on the technical end that causes all my questioning. But I do try and read about it and learn, I'm just very behind the times techincially and usually just try and buy equipment I know is recommended by people such as yourself. Cheating, I guess. lol.

debnova, don't worry, no offense taken. Unfortunately, many salespeople give very incorrect information (often since trying to sell you more expensive items or extra cables). For basic functions (BluRay PQ, SD DVD PQ, digital AQ, and streaming), I think the Panny 500 is overkill for you. PQ will be the same on the Panny 220 and 320. (I would not buy last year's models, however, the 110, 210, or 310.) Sony 390 or 590 are also excellent options. If you really want top quality audio, then go Oppo 93 (and use the analog audio outs).

Billp: Would the Pan 500 be overkill when I actually get my new euipment? An up to date AVR, surround, etc?? Also, I read the new Pan 500 has exceptional audio and very solid build. I found it online for $289, plus another $10. off for Faceook mention. That's cheaper than the OPPO 93.

BUT, if you think the audio on the other units you mentioned is fine for my FUTURE (I know, how would u know my choices, sigh) then I would spend less and get one of the very fine units u mentioned. Just wanted to remind that I am going to keep upgrading my main AV equipment, just want to get the BD so I can go ahead and listen to my awesome CD collection!! Missing my music. Please advise now. THANK YOU

If you are going to use HDMI outputs to hook up to your equipment stick to the 220 or 320 or one of the Sony's. Unless you need RCA cables for your audio hookup, the 500 is overkill. There is no advantage to the 500 otherwise.

If you want to enhance your CD listening experience, get one of the Sony players, they support SACD, and then start purchasing SACD's.

Agree with the other responses. If you are going to use analog audio outs, then yes, players like the Panny 500 and the Oppos are great players. But if you are going to use HDMI for audio, then the receiver is doing the audio work, and these expensive players are overkill. Again, PQ is the same with all of them, and AQ is the same if you use digital/HDMI audio out.
