I am looking for a good 2 channel CD player only.I have a dedicated 2 channel system.I am leaning towards the Oppo 95 since so many love the audio quality of it.I use a Denon 6100 DVD -Audio player now with Burr Brown Dacs'but it is quite old but sound good. Also have a Toshiba HD-DVD A2 player that also plays CD'S well.I really do not need the SACD or BD but since so many have that

it might be just the way to go.Is their big differences in the newer Dac's and the older one.I have very nice Amps and speakers but want the best possible CD player under a grand. Thanks

If those older dvd-a players are still in proper working order and you're happy with the sound, why change? I have a Denon dvd-a player (5 years newer than your Denon) that sounds great for CDs.

On the other hand, from what I have read, the Oppo 95 has a dynamite analogue output stage.

Also Marantz has been known for good quality CD players. The model that came out last year is the CD6004 @ $500, so that is 1/2 the price of the 95.

If you're not interested in sacd or bd the marantz is probably good enough. The only other reason to spring for the oppo 95 would be the balanced outputs.

Better noise rejection. They are comparing signals, and noise gets rejected.

If you hook up your cd player to the digital inputs, then it doesn't matter which cd player you go with, or what ever dac you have or don't have because when using the digital connections the pre-amp or intergrated that you are using is doing the digital to analog converting.

Absolutely true..going analog out of CD to avr..then your using the DAC in your CD player..I have a Cambridge audio 550 CD connected to a Cambridge audio DAC magic with a straight wire digital cable..then hi end analog cables to the avr...the sound is amazing..very detailed,3-d..transparent...

I have the CD-6004 and love it. [They can be had for under $450, BTW.] I use the superb analog output into my AVR's "Analog Direct" CD input.

Not absolutely true. The OP stated he has a new intergrated. Not all integrated amplifiers have built in DAC's.

The question is, does the OP's integrated have a built in DAC.

That's all fine and good, but how do you know that it is somehow better than bypassing the converters in the player, and using the digital inputs on an AVR?
