I thought this was just normal behavior, but after some research I believe I'm suffering from the silent stream bug.
If I'm watching a movie on my htpc and I pause it, my AVR switches from bitstream back to PCM (at least I think that's what's happening). When I press play, their is a 2-3 second delay in audio (video kicks back in immediately) as the AVR picks up the bitstream signal again.
I always thought it was my AVR. It's an Onkyo TX-SR706. But I just got a standalone BD player and that does not have the issue. If I pause a movie and press play, there is no delay. The player is sending and the AVR is receiving the uninterrupted bitstream signal the entire time.
In researching the problem, I didn't find much about Intel users experiencing the silent stream bug, which makes me think it's a problem somewhere else in my settings. Any ideas?
