Yeah. To me it looks like AVS is turning into any of the other generic home theater forums out there.
Before we had quality content, now we have more flash and glitz, but also more inaccurate fluff.
For instance, I saw this new article by Eric Podolsky:
And its very clear he tried to put together a list just by going by things like polls with statistically insignificant amounts of responses and general comments. To me, it is obvious that the pure 3D recommendation of this article gets it wrong - the W7000 trumps everything else on this list easily in that department (though not in others at times, for sure). This is easily seen in person and the DLP tech itself obviously does 3D better (which is why commercial theaters use it for 3D). But, since it looked flashy and could be construed as informative, boom there it is on the front page with no research or testing. Disappointing to me as I could usually point to AVS for useful reference information, but inaccurate articles like this taint that image.
The new AV Science forum logo is just AVS now. I know why - they took out the science!!
EDIT: I noticed Eric Podolsky's title is "editor for Huddler.com" - does this guy even initimately know the tech behind what he is posting about??Edited by Ruined - 10/4/12 at 10:56am
