Site keeps loosing focus (I.E. Window)

Another annoying thing that keeps happening on this site and no other forum based site I visit, is that as I am typing, the I.E. window keeps loosing its focus, meaning I have to click on this window to get it to let me type again, just like if I clicked on another program and worked in it. The bar at the top even displays a lighter shade indicating the window has lost focus. Happens every few seconds as I type, but not in every post I do. It appears to be when certain ads are up or something. Very odd, and very very frustrating.

Hi William...

We will surely look into this. I personally do not see it using Firefox on a MacBook, but I have reported it to be looked into. Surely not the behavior we would care to have.

Thank you.

I feel for you William as I was going through some pains as well for the first 2 days using IE9 on a Win 7 laptop as noted in this thread --> http://www.avsforum.com/t/1414268/issues-using-ie9-and-google-chrome-but-none-with-firefox/0_50, to include being booted out of the forums every time I made a post and as a power user, that was frustrating.

As noted in that thread, once I disabled the connection to the proxy server (which I must use to increase my normal connectivity speed from 0.5Mbps to roughly 12Mbps), my issues went away. However, I've never seen the issue you're experiencing at all, either before or after disabling the proxy server connection with IE9. Until I was able to figure out what was causing the issues for me, I started using Firefox, which generally doesn't have some of the usual lag issues I note using IE9 on AVS Forum. So going forward, I'll be using Firefox for my AVS Forum browsing at the lower 0.5 Mbps connection and using IE9 at the faster connection speed for all my other browsing and especially large Owner manual downloads.

Thanks Dave.

I will too try another browser to try and speed things up in general.

I use IE10 and find that mouse clicks for previous page in now a hit or miss thing.

I had posted this comment on the original beta forum, but I guess that's now gone.

When completing a post and pushing the SUBMIT button, the thread is represented with my new post at the bottom.

However it seems that the browser (Firefox) does not have focus, because none of the keyboard keys actually control the browser window. HOME, END, arrow keys, nothing works until I click on the window somewhere to return focus to it.

I had been told during beta that others had reported the same problem and it would be looked into. But the problem persists to this day.

I repeat... since no action has been taken.

This problem STILL PERSISTS, and is VERY ANNOYING.

You come back to the thread presentation showing your post at the bottom, but none of the keys on the keyboard work. And it's because the browser no longer has the focus. You have to click somewhere on the browser window in order to regain focus.

THIS IS REALLY REALLY ANNOYING!!!

Surely it can be fixed. It was reported during beta for the new forum software, and it has been reported here on this thread once you went live. But nothing has been done to correct the bug.

PLEASE ADDRESS IT.
