Thanks! Is this crude diagram accurate to how it looks? The chrome/clear difference is hard to see in the picture. If this is accurate, I think the framing on these sets are identical.

Picked a 55 inch Samsung 7150 up at Costco Friday, picture color is great out of the box. Adjusting options for best contrast, brightness and motion control this weekend and the picture is fantastic, just a few tweeks to go, sugestions are welcome. The larger screen is wonderful, the style of the Samsung (thin bezel and thin tv depth) is much better than the penny 4" thick plasma it replaced. We were able to get a 55" in almost the same space as the 46" it replaced. The price was more than I had planned but as the tv is in the main gathering area in our home the extra expenditure will be worth it in the long run, and buying from Costco gives me 90 days to change my mind.

We moved the 46" Panasonic S1 plasma to the bedroom, great picture on the plasma but I don't miss the fan noise and bit of heat from the plasma in then main viewing room. Now if I had a man cave one of the new plasmas would have been seriously considered.

Does the 7150 have the camera on the top?
Can you post a picture of the 7150 from Costco?

The 7150 does not have the camera on top...and from what I've seen online and in person, they look identical. I'll take a picture next time I'm there.
The 7150 I bought at Costco has no camera, it does have a wireless key board. It looks just like the pictures above. Costco website has a ES6580 with camera.
I thought only the 7500 and up had the camera?

It is probably not the built in camera the 7500+ has, as it is called a skype web camera.

7150, 6050, 6150,6550 are all Samsung models sold at Costco and Sams. They are basically the same as 7100, 6000, 6100, 6500 some add extras as Skype camera, wireless key board etc...

I just picked up the 55" 7150 from Costco and I am a bit underwhelmed by the picture quality. SD channels look exceptionally grainy and even a lot of HD channels look a bit dull. I had the LG 8600 for a few weeks but returned it because of audio/ video sync issues and the picture quality on that set was a lot better. Anybody else having similar issues (outside of Hooterville)?

Also, I cannot get the wireless keyboard that came with the set to work properly. I says that it is paired...but when im on the browser only a few keys work (Escape, F1, F2, etc).

Anybody??
I'm not sure what is up with your tv. The 7150 I bought last friday at Costco has a very good picture on SD channels and great picture and color on HD channels. It was built in May 2012.

I did have to tweek the settings for back light, contrast, brightness etc... to not have the colors and more so the image details washed out by too bright a picture. I also had to change some of the motion control settings. I have not touched the color settings.

My keyboard is still in the box as using the smart tv and browser features is low on my priorty list. I use my Roku and a Blu-ray player this activity as they are connected to my Yamaha reciever and I did not connect the audio out from the tv at the time of the wall mounting. I'll let you know how it goes when I get the key board out this week.
I don't watch SD that much, but I wouldn't worry about it that much if the PQ isn't that great as I bet in a few years most SD channels will convert to HD as HD is the standard - so in the long run I don't think you should judge your TV based on SD quality.

As far as HD looking dull, that is probably your settings. I suggest buying a disc to help you set up your TV and then see what you think.
Has anyone tried to calibrate their TV in 3D mode yet? I noticed when I switch to 3D it automatically adjusts the backlight to 20! I think I will be dialing that down.

I too have the 7150 from costco but find the PQ to be exceptional. I was able to compare it to a 6500 series and find the price paid to be worth it. Some tweak is needed to get it to what I really like. Keyboard has not been used though.

I used my key board for the first time last night, it worked perfectly. You might try removing the batteries for a while and see if that resets it.

It is a great picture.
Let us know what settings you come up with. I'm still trying to dial in the brightness, contrast, back light and gamma to the best all around level.

Edit- I reset the standard picture mode and it looks better than it did prior to my tweeks....got a bit to learn about LEDs after having a plasma for several years.

Edit-2 After the reset the Eco-sensor was back on. There's a minimum back light setting below the Eco -Sensor on-off option in settings. My initial impression as some earlier posters pointed out that leaving the sensor on and adjusting the minimum back light setting works quiet well to dial in the brightness and contrast. I did this on standard for dramas and natural for a baseball game and while it is early I'm pleased. Try it.

Yes. I too use the eco option, with 13 as the main backlight and 5 with the eco. I only use movie mode as it seems to give the most natural color. I still tweak all the settings once in a while to see the effects they would do and I give it time to sink in. Also I have it in a room with a lot of windows, that's why I have the backlight as high as 13 with sensor on.

4-5 seems to work well, the screen lighting changing takes some getting use to. I have not used movie mode so far. that is next I guess.

It is listed at the bottom of the specs page 7150, Costco, SAMs model basically a 7100 with a key board. Hope you like it, let us know.

Yep there it is, plain as day.
Thanks, I will keep you all updated. I went to the store and the picture blew me away. By Far the best on the floor. The one at the store did not mention the keyboard though. I ordered online because the store does not take Discover but online does.

Well it is a very light font on the last line of the page, kind of like they are hiding it. Good to know about the discover card option. We were just signing up for costco so we splurged and got the American Express Costco card- 6mo 0% and our membership will be free after we get the rebates back on the American Express card. I find it strange the only ccard Costco stores take is American Express, I guess it helps control costs.
After checking out their site, I will be using it more than going to the store. Free shipping and a better selection of goods. Thats on top of them taking CC's. For example we were looking at couch's and what is in the store is not very good, I checked online and they have much better higher end couch's. I applied for the AA card and got turned down. Dont know why, I havent been late or missed a payment to anyone in years, and have a current executive membership. The special no interest deal is just for new members. us existing members dont qualify anyway.
by the way, the store only had 2 wall mounts for this TV both high quality but when I put in my online order, they offered one for 49 dollars that included an HDMI cable, screen cleaning kit, and a surge protector. I jumped on that one. What I like is the surge protector. It looked like a small one that can fit between the TV and the wall, out of sight. It also had protection for the coax cables but I wont be using that. My Coax gets protection down below where I have a Monster bar. The TV needed its own dedicated protector because the wires are hidden inside the wall. I have an electric outlet up on the tv area already but may get on of those recessed ones for a more flush mount.

The ones at the store were 89 and 129 respectively

The only thing I don't know or have not seen yet is the 3D performance. I assume it will be good because its got the active system and the screen is very bright. I remember about a year ago going to a store and putting on the glasses on an active system and was impressed by the depth perception. The passive ones I have seen look more layered. This will be my first 3D tv so I am still worried about the headache issue and how well the glasses fit over my glasses.

3D looked pretty good on my brief trial run of Directv's 3D programs. I've recorded several more shows that will give me a better idea of the quality. But unfortunately the Blu-ray player I bought last year is not 3D capable so for now no Blu-ray 3D movies for me. I didn't forsee getting a 3D tv this soon:rolleyes:

About a week ago I bought the Samsung series 7150 from Costco and I see that some of you guys had just got yours which is sweet! Great Led with an amazing picture but I feel it can be better then the basic setting it comes with. I haven't messed with it much because I have no experience with LEDs. Was wondering what a few of you guys had for your settings ex: contrast, backlight, brightness, gamma etc.i just have mine in the standard mode. Thanks for your help and time.
