See this link... It varies across models but one would hope that it's a good start. All fairly recent posts regarding ES series but not 7100 series product. GARNOCH seems to have put in some serious calibration efforts:

honestly I did not buy my smart tv for the smart hub, I bought it for the amazing picture quality....smart hub just happens to be a nice perk in there....
BTW....I dont see any apple television sets out there.....all i hear are rumors.... nobody is putting a gun to anyones head here...if you dont like samsung...go buy the imaginary apple television set they have been talking bout for years, but never deliver..... lol...
sharp fell on bad times and might be eventually be going outta business, apple wanted sharp to develop their TV sets...good luck with that..... wink.gif

Apple TV might be redundant...but it works. Like so many others, I bought Samsung for the picture and not the Smart Hub.

r u talking about the brief half a second flash of smart hub when the tv first starts? not yet I guess...that migh not be smart hub update, but the firmware....I have the 001041 version....

No question I did not buy the TV for Smart Hub....I have other devices for my media streaming. I view Smart Hub as just a "neat feature" to play around with.

As for mentioning other sources such as APPLE TV, I see no problem bringing that up....Samsung is playing in that market with their "Smart Hub"....why the bashing??

Wait? How do you have fm version 1041? I thought 1025 was the most recent? I have a 7150 but I thought the fm versions werer the same?

You are right my ES7100 is on fw 1025.

I think fw 1041 is for the ES7500 / ES8000.

Regarding the Smart Hub after 2 minute flashing. I contacted Samsung to ask when a fm will available. They suggested unplugging/plugin the power to hard reset the TV. I asked if this will erase settings like picture and they said no. Has anybody tried this unplug/plug procedure. The tech also said Samsung's Smart Hub server was getting lots of traffic and were in the process of adding a second server but I don't think this has nothing to do with the Smart Hub flashing on the TV sets. If that was the case, you would cut off internet connection on the TV and see if the flashing still continues.

I'm not at home, could someone please try this unplug/plug step to see if this takes care of the Smart Hub flashing and report back? Thank you!

The ES8000 has a better viewing angle, the ES7500's viewing angle is identical to the ES7100.

None of this will fix the smart hub flash.

EAnglum.. Although you don't use the smart hub alot, if possible, could you please give your Samsung contact a request for a update on the smart hub flash issue. I figure you may get a better/quicker response then some of us who never got as far as yourself with a personal discussion that you had mentioned in a previous post. Also, has anybody actually reported the Samsung logo issue as of yet? I have been setting mine to be on when the TV is Off and it seems to work perfect using this setting. Makes for a good night lite and the logo lit when the TV is on does nothing good for the viewing experience for me. I am very curious what is really causing the logo turing back on with the TV is off though. If you do happen to get a hold of that contact, could you also inquire about the logo issue as well. I'm sure a bunch of us would really appreciate it. I seemed to have no luck with the Samsung Cares app at all so thanks in advance. Regards, Mike

Though I have not yet fiddle with the hub flashing, since it is so far a minor annoyance, I think (guessing) it is cause by the Smart hub auto login/ account sync feature.

The 2min. flash is also caused by the SyncPlus App and its stat. tracking of your viewing habits and preferences.

Problem is that fixing SyncPlus effects so many other functions.

What are you basing this on? Not sure if that is accurate..

I had the SyncPlus problem way before the SmartHub flash started - about 1 month between the two of them. Also, the SyncPlus issue has been permanently fixed with firmware 1025 but the flash remains.

I will be contacting Samsung this weekend and follow up on the SmartHub flash problem.

honestly, nobody knows why is doing that...it flashs once for half a second...i can live with it until it gets fixed...we can speculate all we want.....half of the time i dont see it anyway, i turn on the tv and walk away....

Hello everyone. I have been reading through this thread the last couple weeks, ever since I got my 7100 and am very glad I found this thread. I have been messing with settings on all 3 HDMI inputs (TV, XBOX, BLU RAY). I use all three often. I have since got my TV input pretty close to where I want it with the help of some suggestions and setting throughout this thread. I have yet to dial in my Xbox and Blu Ray inputs. The Blu Ray looks decent as of now. Still tweaking, but the biggest concern of mine is my gaming : ) I am a huge gamer and have been tweaking my Xbox input a lot lately and can not get anything decent. Looked all over the web and cannot find a decent setting. My 7100 is in a generally dark room, even with the lights on it is not super bright, and with them off of course it's very dark. So any help with a nice gaming setting would be great. I am using a pretty decent HDMI with my Xbox so there should be no problems there. I just need a guide to tweak from or anything. Thanks a lot!

remmber the firmware is for the TV it self...not for smart hub necessarily....smart hub gets its own updates...the 7500 & 8000 have the 001041 firmware currently.....your tv does not have the same firmware updates as ours....sorry to tell you that....

They are good IF you are sitting inside the width of the TV. Once you are sitting outside the width of the TV the picture starts to degrade fairly rapid.

Some users have reported that lowering the Contrast setting into the 80's can help improve what you see when the viewing angle gets large.

Correct, It fixed the SynPlus problem and the side-effect was the Smart Hub flash that began with fw 1025.

Nice, they helped a lot. I tested them on Far Cry 3 for a bit, may need to tweak for other games so I'll check that too. But yea definitely helped a lot. I am really debating on buying the HD Basics Calibration blu ray or having a professional set up my stuff as everyone has a personal preference and every room is different. Now just need to find some better settings for my TV and Blu Ray/PS3 inputs. Thanks a lot for the heads up though. Really wished I would have seen that page sooner!
