Not a big problem for me, but for people who use the Smart Hub and don't want to see the flash?

Yeah, that's why it doesn't bother me. I spend 90% of my TV watching using the Smart Hub. I know when the flash will happen, it lasts for a second and then It's right as rain for as long as the TV is on. Which in my case is >12hrs on my days off, ~6 hours on my work days. I would like it fixed, but I'm not that annoyed by it.

When deciding on which TV to go with on this, do you really need the silly camera option on the 7500 or not. Upgrading to a quad core for the Smart Hub is not that important as well. The only difference really is the CMR and Microdimming, so just save a bit of money and go with the 7100 if you don't care about upgrading and the camera option. You can always buy the camera accessory anyways for the 7100 for $100.

I have the latest firmware, but I was wrong I had it set to custom and I changed it back to clear and I haven't noticed and jitter.

I cant tell anyone here what TV to get...its all personall chioce.....

the 7100 is only $200 cheaper than the 7500 on Amazon...so whatever....there is no right or wrong answer...is all about your personal choices and preferences and what your needs are....

just do whatever your heart desires.... tongue.gif

I just keep on clear myself...the standard or smooth modes are gimmicks....you think it will make the picture smoother, it does at the cost of lag, jitter, freezing, etc...thats what interpolation does....inserting 6 extra frames in there is a nice idea..but is not always cut and dry....like I said before...if you like it fine...but dont complain about the chopiness...its the nature of the beast....live with it....

I for one watch TV and Movies the way the director intended to be...If Steven Speilberg wanted smoothing effect to his movies for example...He would have done it himself....I dont need the extra gimmicks and fake effects...

but if you like it...more power to you.....we live in a free society....lol .... rolleyes.gif

The $300 difference is pretty steep ($2200 vs $1900). The only reason I would even contemplate between the 7500 and 7100 is because of the Evolution Kit. I believe the 7100 doesn't have the Smart Evolution slot, is that right? I wouldn't pay a penny more for a camera, but would I pay $300 for that Smart Evolution slot? Not sure yet, lol.

If you are willing to spend just $89 more, you can get the 60ES8000 at BB via a price match for $2289.

the 7500 is not the same as the 7100...the camera is not the only difference....

picture quality is much better....it also has the evo kit slot...the 7100 DOES NOT.....

ANYWAY..as I said it before..is up to you bro....its your money....justify it anyway you want it....

but dont belittle others for having a TV you are not willing to get....lol

its obvious you want the 7100....go ahead, get it....lol....its a great choice.....i did not get the 8000 series for the camera, smart hub, gesture control, all that crap...to me is all a big gimmick....

I got it for the extrordinary picture quality.... and the very very slim bezel and thin design.....

to each its own.......

the F sries will be coming out soon, therefore the prices of the E series will lower a bit until they are all gone.....maybe wait a bit and see, the price will definitely go down....

According to Television Info the ES7100 and ES7500 are almost the same (in picture quality).

Extremely similar contrast: 2860:1 and 2611:1

And almost the exact same viewing viewing angle: 21 and 22

Where is the $2289 60ES8000 document/advert that I can take to best buy for a price match?

Sorry bud, but I think you were originally speaking at markc72, not me. I just chimed in with my opinion, not to belittle anyone for spending their own money. I mentioned the Evolution Kit as being the only difference, for me, to justify (or not justify) paying $300 more for an otherwise close to identical television. The picture quality difference, from what I've read, puts them neck and neck with each other. I am not getting an ES7100, I'm going with a new F8500 plasma. When they hit the ol' brick and mortars.

Gaming mode looks great on my PS3 games!!

...however, is there anyway to turn the Auto Motion Plus on smooth while on gaming mode? I feel like this feature makes the scenes move faster and let's move of the motion power out.

This is good news (I Hope). I got a Smart Hub update this morning. After the update, for the first time, my Icons all remained in tact as well as all other smart hub features. Now it also seems that the flash issue is GONE!!!! Yahoo.. it was a small inconvienence but I believe it's gone. I've tried 3 power on's and saw no flash even after 5 minutes of TV watching between the power on's. I hope it's gone FOR GOOD!! Thanks to all who helped get Samsung off their butts & finally address this. Regards to ALL.

Noticed this as soon as I turned on my set. The update took about a minute and did not have to turn it off. I did turn it off however and it took another minute to "reconnect". So far, I don't see anything unsual, I don't see the 'flash" either anymore, my apps icons are all intact. So far so good.smile.gif

I turned it off and on two more times just to be certain nothing funny happens. Whn I clicked on the smart hub button, it seems to be taking abit longer to start now. Am connected using ethernet.

It shows top right of screen also if you press the smart update diamond button it will tell you if it is progress.

If you are not getting the smart screen flash after two minutes then your updated.

This is different than firmware update you have to go into the menu to update the firmware

I only see smarthub in right corner. I may have missed update. So there is no where to see software number or update number?

Good to have the option if needed....

Finally!! After this recent update all of my icons came back! After spending a few hours with support two weeks ago a technician is scheduled to come out tomorrow to replace the wifi module, main system board and one other thing. I'm still going to have him replace it. But this makes me wonder (and I've asked support about this), is there any way to "re-install" the smart hub software. Does anyone know? support said no, but I don't believe that at all.

I don't think there is a way to re-install smart hub unless a firmware update pushes a new version, which is probably what just happened for your icons to come back.

Hi guys,

Just got this TV this weekend at BB and curious if there is any FW updates I should avoid. I just didn't get a chance to browse through all the threads so I figured I'd ask.

Also, the clown sales guy at BB told me that any webcam would just work for skype on this TV but when I plugged in my Logitech, it is telling me that this tv only supports 2 models and I am sure you all know those 2 models. So, my question is, is there a way around to use a logitech webcam for this TV?

Thanks in advance,

(posted this a day or 2 ago but I think it may have been missed due to the thread moving to a new page number)

Hey Guys!

Brand new to the forum here and I've been reading through the entire thread to see all the questions and feedback that everyone has for the 7100. I was waiting nearly the entire month of December for mine to be shipped to my store but I just got it in about a week ago and have been trying to get some good quality time in with it as much as I could when my schedule cooperated. The first TV that I bought was a Sharp LC60LE847 and while it was a really nice set I just didn't feel the quality was there and the clouding issues I was having were horrendous. I was able to get my store to price match while Amazon was having that deal with the $200 gift card and I couldn't pass that up. Anyways so far I'm having some minor clouding issues but that is to be expected. I know as it breaks it that should lessen hopefully but mounting it and doing the massage technique should help. I am having one problem that I didn't really hear anyone else having which has me a little worried. I am having a crosstalk issue when playing 3D blurays. I'm not sure what options would be causing this but it seems to only happen when there is some serious intense 3D going on in the movie for instance the close up of Ben Kingsley at the end of "Hugo" is a very intense 3D scene where the depth just goes through the roof. Its not always present but other than intense scenes and the occasional here and there shadowing of certain objects its just kind of annoying that its there. I remember this model wasn't suppose to have any crosstalk issues but I am open to any suggestions you guys have. I realize it might have something to do with my bluray player or the settings on it as well so the bluray player I am using is a Panasonic DMP-BDT220. Thanks in advance guys!

I've had the Samsung 7100 for a few months now and love it, but my current HDMI cables are acting up.

What is the best or recommended high-speed ethernet HDMI cable to get the best picture quality for this TV? I have a PS3, Xbox, Apple TV, and 5.1 Home Theater system. I'm a novice on HDMI cables. Thanks.
