Essentially, I continue to hear my DVR sound but see the streaming video. I see and hear the streaming video but I am hearing it through the TV speakers.

I am sure this is user error!!confused.gif

1) How do I make the receiver play the TV sound vice the DVR sound?

2) Is this a limitation of the Receiver?

3) Is the fix w/i the ARC of the Receiver? Do I need to swap out connections?

Any advice and tips beyond my questions/issues is much appreciated. Thanks for your time.

My setup is as follows:

Samsung UN60ES7100
Pioneer Elite SC-35
Direct TV Receiver/DVR
PS3
Xbox 360
All connections are made using HDMI
The correct input on the TV is hdmi 2 and on my Yamaha I must enable/turn on ARC/HDMI Control. I would think your pioneer has a similar setting.

You must enable Anynet+ on the 7100.

Can not comment on what has to be 'turned on' on your receiver. Check you user manual.

All,

I am, as far as I remember, plugged into the HDMI 2 input. I will verify later-Watching it right now! Also, going to confirm that the Pioneer SC35 receiver is set-up correctly as I think, w/ the Misu DLP, I had to disable this feature for the receiver to operate correctly. If correctly, in this case, means reduced functionality. I do know that this TV is MUCH better than my DLP. It is a night and day comparison. Almost unfair to compare the two TVs.

Thanks to all for attempting to assist me. Hopefully we are on to something!biggrin.gif I will post my results once verification and steps are completed.

Thanks for all the advice! I got my PS3 to output in 3D, just needed to set the HDMI resolution to automatic.
The PS3 will auto detect the 3D. Anyway thanks for the support.

I noticed 3 dark Horizontal lines in 3D for solid blue and white backgrounds.

And a dreaded dead pixel...called Samsung Support..time for more repairs.

Honestly, I would like to trade-in the ES7100 for a F8000....I can dream tongue.gif

Pirates....how long have you had your tv? Did u do any tests in 3D that you discovered the issue?

I now feel your pain... Also, recently I was watching 3D and did also notice 3 horizontal bands on the TV. Sometimes hard to see but at other times noticeable but not really to bad. Where is your dead pixel located. out of curiosity? Mine is about 4 " from the R.H side about 1 foot down from the top of the panel. I will be using the geek squad guys to take a look at both issues asap (when the F7000 series is out). Sure wish somhow a upgrade to a F8000 could happen as well but I bet if we wait long enough, a F7000 may be being assembeled for replacement and real soon I hope!

For $20.....i'm completely satistifed.

I totally agree with this. And my bias lights turn off when I turn my tv off. Yea!

I have the same kit, I use one for the top and one for the bottom. Works very well, although the light is slightly blue but my wall behind is brown so it balances the hue out nicely to look white.

I noticed it as I turned down the backlight and watching a 3Net show about underwater sea life.

Solid or almost solid blue and white shows the lines. I had the the ES7100 since December.

+1, I like this thinking..I talked with Samsung ECR and they stated that after 3 repairs (went through that before) I could get an F model.

They also stated if the Samsung repair rep. classifies the HDTV as unrepairable, the F becomes an option without the 3 repairs.

My dead pixel is at the bottom right where most channel logos apear.

Man.....just 3-4 months and already a dead pixel and other issues...thats horrible. You would think that if you're paying for a higher end model, they would be better build quality and last longer. Hope you get the F series man. I just saw a few F series models listed in bestbuy.com, but they are the F 6 series.

I've been through this before...and things definitely improved.

I'd be willing to pay a little more in the exchange to get the F8000.

Yet, if I get that "perfect" ES7100 panel, I''ll call it a day and be happy.

I just bought an open box 55" 7100 from Best Buy. The TV was in perfect shape.

I got it setup at my house, and updated the firmware to 1029. Ever since, I get a box stating "Please go into service mode and setup below options. -Type, Local Set, Front Color Option". This comes up every time and stays up until I clock OK.

Does anyone know how to get rid of this?

Thanks.

And a dreaded dead pixel

Can't you fix those using a pixel flipper? I heard that on a review of Disney's WOW.

I got the new set on Saturday and after turning it on noticed some very minimal clouding in the lower left corner and near the middle. This is absolutely nothing compared to the bright blob that was visible in the old panel. The clouds are very light and hard to see -- you cannot notice them on content or when the credits are rolling, if you do want to see them you have to focus on the uniformity. I'll try to post some pics next time but I don't think it will show up. It's a Feb build if that matters. I think I'm happy now.... I think....

But now reading both of your posts I got kind of scared... A dead pixel and not even a year? Banding?!?! You know, on second thought, I thought I noticed some banding the other day.

Hmmm....

How much will the f7000 or 8000 cost? anyone know? I'm still within my 15 day return window.

Don't panic, for all I know the pixel was D.O.A., I just noticed it a few days ago.

The Horizontal lines are 3D only..no 2D at all.

The F series will cost @ $300-$500 more.

Pixel flipper maybe, but...that won't fix the 3D issue.

That is a Service Menu error...call Samsung Support.

You could try a Factory Reset (I doubt that would help).

So I called Samsung Support. They said that this is not covered under warranty, and tried to get me to pay $99. When I told them it was a few days old, and the issue was from their update; they started demanding the serial number, telling I could not return it to Best Buy.

Upon some further investigation, it appears I need to chose new panel types in the service menu? But this will also void my warranty?

I really hope I can fix this, as I got such a good deal on this TV, and anything else for the money would be a downgrade.
I ran several solid color on my 7100 - great uniformity on my panel. The only thing I found edge bleeding from four corners are the solid black. I was in Standard mode. When I swtich to Movie mode, the bleeding are gone. I think the CE dimming turned the lights off. The first time I noticed the corner edge bleeding was watching Skyfall bluray where the movie has two black bars top and down. The edge bleeding can be detected on these two bars. They don't borther me at all. (The bad viewing angle bothers me more)

I've been using Standard mode for a while b/c I thought micro dimming wasn't enabled in the Movie mode. Does it matter?

Just wondering what you mean by green push?

Here's a suggestion. Do NOT go into the service menu. Buy the extended warranty from Best Buy ASAP! Wait a week or so and then file a repair claim using geek squad. Best Buy techs will most likely not go into the service menu but probably just order a new main board replacement to solve the issue. I would let them know how the failure occured since it happened after a "recent" firmware update. I would not mention the fact that the problem happened before the warranty purchase unless they discover the info by going into the service menu during a scheduled repair. I think it will show them the date and time of the firmware update. It really shouldn't matter and if they do go into the service menu, they might just know how to correct the issue anyways. This purchase will protect you for several years after the factory warranty expires so it will be well worth it. These TV's tend to have issues down the road so peace of mind is really worth the extra cost of the warranty. Also, the cost of the warranty is based upon the sales price so if you got a "killer" deal, the cost of the warranty should be less than if you purchased it for retail. Oh yeah, I hope you did not give Samsung your serial number so they don't creat any issues for you. Good luck with what ever you decide to do...

Looks like Next Week I'll have a new and improved panel or be 1 step closer to the F8000.

I have to see that as a Win / Win situation.

Standard displays a brighter backlight value so the four corner "flashlights" are not in Movie mode.

Infact, the Micro-Dimming does not work in Movie Mode. CE dimming is the all-black screen (backlight turns off).

The viewing angle is quite poor....

I use Movie for Directv and Blu-rays, Standard for Xbox360 only.

MGH26. Thanks for the advice. I did not buy the warranty yet, because AMEX has the warranty extension program. Are there any charges from best buy for making the service call? Will they do it in my home? I did not go into the service menu. Just found that out through the internet, how you fix it. I assume someone might have played with the set when it was the store model....

With the Best Buy Warranty, service calls are free and a main board can be replaced right in your home. I also think the TV had previously been messed with in the service menu.

If someone went into the service menu then your warranty with Samsung is void. I would talk to the Best Buy your purchased from and see if they can exchange the TV for something else and give you a deal for the hassel of selling you a defective TV.
How can they tell someone went into the menu? Wouldn't geek squad have to do this to fix it anyway?

Do you trust the authorized repair guys to handle your tv with care? The last two times my panles were replaced on by D6000 by a samsung authorized tech, I cringed everytime they dropped in my panel and overtighten the screwed with a drill.

To me, it just feels like when you take the TV apart, you automatically reduce the life of the TV from assembly and disassembly. Plus, they seemed very rough when handeling the Tv as if they didnt care at all in dealing with a 2,000 TV.
They can tell someone was in the Service Menu because of the error message.

If it was me, I would immediately return the TV to BB and demand my money back. There is absolutely no way to determine how badly messed up the settings in the Service menu are. There is just no way to determine how many settings were changed in the Service Menu to the detriment of the TV. I guess you now know why it was on clearance.

Unless someone can 'reset' the SM to it's factory default setting, the only other way I see to fix this would be to replace the main board. But Samsung would never authorize this because the warranty has already been voided.

The local techs are excellent, I had 3 repairs done by them- the issue was the panels, not the service.

The tech was careful and even mention they would not over-tighten screws.

Honestly, what ever gets me closer to the F8000. wink.gif
