I was satisfied with the TV until I had a dead pixel, then noticed the 3D Horizontal Lines defect.

I don't have the time or energy to keep exchanging...but I won't settle- why would anyone?

If Samsung would have built my A850 to last (I had 4 repairs-that failed) I would never had gone through all of this.

My situation is not unique- Google Samsung and banding, capacitor issue, bezel separation and the list goes on and on.

+1, No offense taken. Hope someone can learn from my experiences.

I'm not looking for a perfect picture, just one as good as my Samsung A850- without the other issues.

I guess my over-communicating may have given the wrong impression.

I looked back over the thread and noticed two other members with the 3D Horizontal banding issue.

There were also two other members with a separated bezel, like mine.

I was just trying to contribute information and experiences to the thread.

Next week I'll take delivery on the F7100 and hope its what I'm looking for.

I still have the Phillips (Best Buy). The Toshiba (Brandsmart USA) was destroyed in a shipment, The Samsung developed a vertical line last summer (2012).

I loved the Samsung A850 (Best Buy) and wish I still had it. I never wanted the panel lottery, repairs or exchange.

I returned the D630 (Best Buy) it had an awful picture, The D6900 (Best Buy) had major banding and Samsung had falsely claimed the 3D was HD -Google it.

The ES7100 (directly from Samsung) is my current HDTV (bezel separated) - I had 3 panels with Horizontal lines in 3D.

I was asking more in regards to which TV you actually bought from retail to get you to where you're at now, the ES7100. Were the D6900 and ES7100 all warranty replacements from Samsung? It'll help others better understand for future reference too.

The only replacement was the ES7100 - I was offered a refund through Best Buy after 3 failed repairs on the D6900 (purchased at Best Buy) and took the exchange.

Well I've got #2 F7100 now and can honestly say I finally have ZERO dead pixels but..... After around 20 minutes of use I noticed flashlighting on 3 of 4 corners. I have already excepted this TV so I think I'll have to live with it. The picture is quite uniform and I bet the flashlighting will decrease with time I am hoping. There is NO perfect TV I guess but this is as close as I have gotten. I'm sure the issue is related to stupid assembly practices and after some burn-in time, I'm going to re torque all screws in the back panel assembly. My 2nd ES7100 had zero flashlighting after the TV was properly re-assembeled. It had a tiny amount before the teardown so I know it helps to tork all screws equally. It just really SUCKS to go through so many TV's without getting one that is without flaws from the factory. Better luck with your replacement as I am now giving up any further efforts for now trying to get the perfect set. 2 es6500's, 2 es7100's and now 2 f7100's all having some issue or another. mad.gif

+1, I feel your pain. The F7100 gets delivered on May 1 (Wed.) between 12pm -4pm.

I'm going to take a half-day from work to inspect the HDTV and reject if necessary.

Repairs, long waits, exchanges and disappoints are not fun- but in my opinion worth it, when you get satisfaction in the end.

I could live with (yet, definitely don't want) flashlighting.

I won't accept dead pixels or banding- nor should anyone else.

Did KW International deliver/ pick-up your sets?

Yes it was them. They didn't rush me and were very good to deal with.

I just got a UN46ES7100F for cheapp ($700 open box) but the tv starts making a 'clicking' sound when connected to any of the hdmi ports. It doesnt do it until about 10 or so minutes into playing. What is causing this annoying cricket/clicking sound coming from the back of the tv area around the hdmi input area?

Anyone else experienced this issue?

Should I return it?
Well you probably have found out why it was returned in the first place.
How long is your return window?
Will they repair under warranty? Can repair be completed before return window expires? If no i would return.

Is this the US version of UNXXES7000 ? Samsung Series 7 ?

I've read about NOT updating to 1029 and staying on 1027....but what if you are still on 1025? Should I update? Is 1025 better than 1029?

As I recall ver 1025 did provide a better pictue and also was the release that fixed the 1080P sync plus issue. If you can find version 1026 or version 1027 that you can install via a usb flash drive, those would be a much better way to go. Ver 1029 took a step backwards in picture quality and requires recal to help with the undesired effect of the update. I would NOT go with ver 1029 since there has been NO known benefits from anyone who posts in this forum who has done the update..

Here it is two days into my F7100 useage and the GOOD NEWS is the flashlighting has already diminished quite a bit. So if the new F series does have a small amount out of the box, give it some time to settle down. I did do the screen massage thing but viewing time seems to continue in helping reduce this issue. wink.gif

Awesome...looking forward to Wed. and the F7100.

I got a chance to compare the F8000 and F7100 side by side in HHGregg today.

Upon adjusting settings to match, the pictures looked identical.

The only extra picture feature on the F8000 was Smart LED.

Funny, the F7100 remote was more responsive and precise.

My HLT just died the other day so I picked up this model in a 55". My only complaint seems to be that in a dark room and a dark picture, it seems like there's some sort of back light showing at the very bottom of the screen, in the middle. Is this normal? Can I address it or should I sent it back? With so many Samsung models out there, it was tough to find the "right" one.

That's one of the issues with LED TVs since they're edge lit. I was set on a 7100 but after seeing the clouding issues I am going with a Panasonic ST60 plasma. Same price and much, much better picture quality. You can try to exchange it for another set which could be better, but most will have it to some extent.

Well if that's a common issue with LED's then I'm not concerned. I went in looking to buy the ST60 and I was reminded how much I hate plasma's. Thanks though.

Do you know what the smart LED function is for? The F7100 looks so good without it, I am not sure what it could help with to improve picture quality. Also, Iam quite surprised to hear the F7100 remote is more responsive than the F8000. The F8000 quad core is supposed to improve the Smart TV functions but I bet the firmware needs to get improved or all of the extra hardware/software for jester motion control requires more processor power. Its more likely the firmware though. I thought the F7100 has over kill feature wise but the F8000 has even a bit more. rolleyes.gif

I think Smart LED does some kind of screen dimming to improve black levels.

So are you going to begin posting in the "Dead" F7100 thread or start the Official Samsung UNXXF7100 Thread?

Question to you guys who get exchanges under warranty ( from the descriptions this is the factory warranty). What happens if you happened to purchase an extended warranty from Best Buy or Square Trade? I got a 3-yr warranty from Sq. Trade thru Costco, which also means my factory warranty is 2-years. Does the extended warranty apply to the new TV? Does it apply if you got a totally different TV (like ES7100 to F7100)? Or do you now have to get another extended warranty if you want it to apply to the new set?

Thanks!

I'm curious what you didn't like about the ST60.. From checking it out in person the PQ is amazing. The reviews Ive read said that the picture quality is on par with $4000-$5000 LED TVs... I always thought plasmas were outdated and bad, but I don't see any downside to it... As I said I was set on the 7100 before, just curious to hear your opinion. Thanks

I can speak for Best Buy... They gave me a partial pro-rated refund for the remaining purchased extended warranty time on the ES7100. I later found out they will also sell a new warranty as long as the model that Samsung upgraded to is sold at their stores. You dont have to buy the TV from them to purchase their extended warranty. The guy at Best Buy did not know that but I found out by giving the Best Buy Corp office a call. The only thing I forgot to ask was how much time you can own the new set before it is not allowed for extended warranty purchase. I know if you buy a product directly from Best Buy, you have 30 days from the date of purchase to buy the extended warranty plan.

After going through many LED TV's in my hunt for my next TV, and not just store shopping but actually having them in my home, I now own the Panasonic 60ST60.

As far as pq is concerned only the Sharp Elite would probably be one of the only LED TV's that can top these better plasma's. The blacks are incredibly black, sometimes you think the TV is actually off. Also, the detail in the blacks and dark scenes are amazing. You do not lose anything in the picture in dark scenes. You can make out everything.

I think more people need to give plasama's a chance. I also thought they were outdated and was fed to believe that. It is quite the opoosite, plasma TV's still offer the best picture out there. Some of the deepest blacks you can imaging without any of that flashlighting or light leakage, excellent color reproduction, high contrast levels and just a full beutiful picture. Also no issues with motion blurring like LED's. Great off angle viewing. The list goes on and on and on.

If you want to feel like you are actually watching a movie at a cinema nothing beats a plasma TV. I am not typing this to knock LED TV's or this particular TV in general but if someone is looking to purchase a new TV I highly reccomend looking at the ST60. You can get the 60" for $1,499. Check out the CNET review or any review for that matter on this TV. There is a reason why people are excited.

Also, instead of reading all these posts and seeing people worried about what their screen looks like, rubbing it down, terrbile flashlighting, unwatchable dark scenes in the ST60 thread it is people talking ablout how incredible the picture is, what settings everyone is using, how black can this screen go.....Nothing really but positive talk!

No matter what a salesman tells you, there is probably no LED TV for under 3-4k that can compete with the ST60.

I'm not 100% sure. I used the Samsung warranty for the exchange.

I had an extended 3 year warranty through Best Buy, with another HDTV that had an exchange option.

If your register with Samsung Support you get an additional 3 months.

I don't think warranties transfer....

True, but I prefer LED "pop" and brightness.

Plasma struggles to show an all-white screen for more than a few seconds.

Also image retention can be an issue. Some plasma have dithering.

How is motion on this set? I am currently the owner of an LG LM7600 it is fantastic in every way, but black levels (contrast). I know that Samsung uses some variation of (C)VA panels 2012 which offer great black levels, but have worse motion performance overall. I owned the ES6500 for a minute, but it was a terrible dark room performer and had severe overdrive trailing. I game about 90% of the time, so overdrive trailing is an issue on slower panels. Since the ES7100 has a native 240hz panel does anyone have any experience with this display and gaming? If it is good my wife will inherit the LG and I will return to Samsung. Thanks for any response.
