Official Samsung UNXXES7100 Thread. - Page 30

Thread Starter
Just called Samsung support about the Smart Hub flashing and she had no clue about this problem. Her answer was do another factory reset which I declined.
I'll wait and see what the next smart hub update brings.

Well the Smart Hub Flash issue has showed on my TV for the first time this morning also. I can't believe Samsung has given us another bug to deal with. They have lost their minds It now seems and I for one am not going to put up with it. My replacement TV is comming in the next 2 hours. I will NEVER do any firmware updates but I think the smart hub issue might just show up anyways. I sure hope to just get a decent panel on the next TV and a version of firmware that is 1020 or below. It's amazing that it takes a miricle to just get a decent TV out of the box from Samsung let alone down the road dealing with hardware and software failures which can drive a guy crazy!

Please call support. Please retweet EarlMagnus' tweet linked a few posts ago or write your own. Unless they hear from significant numbers of people, the issue may not even make its way up the chain.

Also, it appears that the issue isn't with the system firmware, but with an independent Smart Hub update. The issue appeared for me after a Smart Hub update, but before the firmware was updated from 1022 to 1024

My system is about a week old.....its on 1024. And afterthe smart hub updatemine started.....I cant believe samsung allows **** like this to happen.....Ive made up my mind and its going back.......do plasmas have alot of issues?
Actually let me ask this......if I do a complete system reset would that take care of the issue? And I cant remember if I had the option to upgrade the system for the hubstation or if it happened automatically once I turned the hub station on......is there a way to do all updates manually?
A complete system reset will not fix this issue.

I'm sending message to their Facebook support page. I will not waste my time with a phone call to their customer support group again - complete waste of time.

Can you post a link to the profile you sent the message to and let us know when you've done it? I'm happy to pile on in that arena, as well, but they have so many Facebook pages, I'm not sure which one you mean.

Just keep the damn thing off the network. biggrin.gif

That helps me a great deal actually. I'll keep my eye on the 7100 and see about picking one up in the new year. Just returned that stinker 6100 to BB and I have to hand it to them, it really was hassle free.

Thank you kindly EAnglum!

Ok guys called samsung and complained as well.....for what its worth, I told the rep what the issue was....I was then informed to perform a full system reset......did it......problem persists

I've actually received a response from this group in the past....might be worth hitting them up in numbers as well.

You're welcome. Just remember to turn your contrast down to around 80 or so....this really helped with the viewing angle. Good luck! cool.gif

Hi sir,...

Are you familiar with the next update from 1020.1...?
What was the firmware before the dreaded 1023 and 1024,..?

Cheers,...

EAnglum.......im now looking at the LEDs that are not smart ie the 6000/6050 series.......im thinking if i dont have smarthub i wont have issues.....the extras are nice but dont really need them or the 3D. Is the 6000/6050 series plagued with any issues??

I've had no problems at all with my 7100 after the 1024 firmware update and the Smart Hub update. Sometimes it's good to have people that complain about issues that pop up, but it also scares a lot of people form wanting to get the TV. I can't tell you how happy I am with this TV. Go buy it!!!smile.gif

I recently purchased the 60es7100 and have been pretty happy with it it except for a couple issues

1. I noticed recently that I'm seeing some motion judder on all my channels. Seems like at least a few times a minute the images will appear to stick. Does this have something to do with the smart hub or sync plus app? I'm running version 1024 currently and I have since deactivated the sync plus app, but I am still seeing the motion judder.

2. When I try to watch any channel broadcasted in 3d (DirecTV) I am getting a green band that runs vertically down the left side (see below)

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

jutter could be caused by Auto Motion Plus...I would try disabling this or setting it to clear.

As for the green line, that is not normal. If you can't clear this by doing a factory reset, I think you'll need a service visit.

I'm very surprised you did not have the 1080P 60fps issue. Either SyncPlus is already disabled on your set or you have not fed it a true 1080P 60fps signal.

As for scaring away people, if they are scared after reading this thread, maybe they should be looking at another set. Seriously, if I knew there would have been this many bugs, more importantly, absolutely HORRIBLE customer service, I would have purchased another brand (Sony 850/929 or 950). Since I'm out of my 30 day window, I'll make the best of it and cross my fingers.

So I just got my new 467100 today. Well the damn thing had Ver 1023 firmware already in it. Results are that I still have a slight pink hue in standard and Dynamic mode. I'm not sure if this is a firmware issue or not. I'm going to go look at a earlier release to compare it to. Worse that that though is that the syncPlus app reinstalled it'self. I fixed that but after the automatic update for the smart hub, my TV now displays it every time I turn on the set after two minutes for a split second. So I'm stuck with BS software on my BRAND NEW TV even though I never DID a firmware update to the latest version 1024 (the one that fixes nothing). So who ever says the TV is OK with version 1024 MUST be an employee of Samsung. or is the luckiest person on the planet!

I'm sorry but I've had my 55 7100 for 2 weeks and have 1024 that it downloaded and installed the day I got it. I've had no issues with any of the things discussed here. And I assure you I am not an employ of Samsung and I'm usually the person who gets the lemon on everything. Maybe my luck is changing.

This replaced a 3 year old Samsung 860 and I am so far very impressed with it.

If you'd like to try to reproduce the Smart Hub issue:
  1. Make sure your set is connected to the internet
  2. Start the Smart Hub and make sure it is up-to-date. If it isn't, it should complain at you in a minute or two. The version I'm showing is 4.5191-5.0
  3. Once the Smart Hub is up-to-date, turn off the set
  4. Turn the set back on and keep one eye on the clock
  5. Exactly two minutes after your display turns on, you will see the Smart Hub screen come to the fore for about a second, then retreat

If you don't see it, it might be interesting to find out why your TV is special.

Feed it a TRUE 1080P 60fps signal and enable Syncplus.... you'll have a problem.

Ok This may be good news. The new set with version 1023 right out of the box does NOT have the color or grainy issue my last TV got during the 1022-1023-1024 firmware updates I did along the way. It does appear that live updating or even USB updates may creat very bad issues during the process. Since 1023 seems OK other than the known issues, mabye going to Ver 1024 would be OK. I won't try it though. I finally have a TV that is again VERY Enjoyable. But I will NEVER UPDATE IT. I'll live with the SyncPlus and the 2 minute flash after Power On of the kinda not so "Smart Hub". As a 2nd plus, this set has less of a bright spot in the lower left of center position on my screen than the last one also had. Almost a perfect panel this time! Now I really hope they don't add another auto update that screws it up. rolleyes.gif

There are two reasons I can think of that will cause you not to see it:
  1. It only happens once. If the set is on all day, you'll not see it again.
  2. It happens at exactly 2 minutes after the screen comes on. If you're looking away at that moment, you won't see it.

As a sort of 2a I would note that there has to be an active network connection for the flash to happen. The screen coming on is a proxy for knowing when the network connection has become active.

I just turned it on so I can watch Sportscenter while I get ready for work and nothin so far. Tv has been on for about 15 mins and ive been watchin it the whole time. I have ethernet cables going to everything ( Xbox 360, Blu-ray, and Tv ) and I got a Internet connection otherwise I wouldn't be able to post right now. Like I said though within the last week maybe 3/4 times but nothin since
post #899 of 2849
It's not exactly 2 min in......it's between 2 and 5 min....you will see it. Just keep watching
post #900 of 2849
I do have one issue though; I have connected an optical cable to the tv and my Pioneer receiver but still do not get audio when using the smart hub (you tube, etc.); I would have thought the switching from sound via HDMI to optical would be auto.

Any help would be appreciated.
