Got this set last night only to find out that this is not a IPS panel... wow what a disappointment. On-axis viewing is stellar, great uniformity, little to no clouding... but then I went 30 degrees off axis and ... contrast dropped off significantly and then another 5 degrees and color shift to pink and that made me conclude that this is not an IPS but Sharp panel, LG must be sourcing their panels from Sharp since they do not make 60" LCDs as IPS... I have a 55" Panasonic with true IPS and that panel at even 60 degrees shows no contrast loss or color shift. I was so hoping that this LG will be the set for me, but not this time... Just wanted to let those who shop for IPS that this is not an IPS panel for sure. It is hard to imagine that LG sources panels from someone else when they operate huge LCD factories but their fabs are set for 55, 65 and plus...

Sorry I couldn't help with that info before you bought it. I don't know anything about what panels manufactures use. My biggest complaint with this set would be off axis viewing, not a big deal with my seating but when calibrating my set I did notice each seat has noticable color degrading for each foot to the left or right.

Hey all, just found this forum looking for help with my LG 60LS5750. Sorry if this has been covered already here.
I purchased it from Costco NorCal this last September. Last night it died. The screen went blank like we had lost the signal from Directv but the other tv's in the house were fine. Directv is not the problem. I unplugged the LG and tried again, no luck. Turned everything off and unplugged everything, still no luck. The red standby light is on. The TV responds to being turned on via the power button or the remote. I can hear sound and tell that I can change the channel but the display is this odd glowing dark blue. There is no LG splash screen when it's first turned on like normal.
Today I called Costco. They ran me through some things to try with no luck then finally said they need to contact LG in the morning. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a good outcome.
In the meantime I've done some web surfing and have found many other owners of LG's with the same problem. The problem seems to be the "boards" in the back of the TV. Either they get replaced or the whole tv replaced.
If anyone has any info I'd love to hear it. In any case I'll let you know what happens with mine.

Has anyone been able to make ARC work? I just purchased a 47LS5700, which is hooked up to a Denon 591 receiver via HDMI. I want to watch Netflix on the TV and output the sound to the receiver. No success at all! No sound comes from either the TV or the receiver. I configured Simplink in the TV and HDMI control in the receiver but nothing...

Any clues?

I used an interim solution: connected the TV to the receiver via an optical cable. It works but the receiver shows it as a 2.0 input, rather than a 5.1. I did not test it extensively, only played a movie in Netflix, which was labelled as 5.1.

Doh,sorry for the premature reply.

Anyway the update from my last post is:
Costco contacted LG who created a work ticket with Precision TV. Precision TV has now ordered the parts needed for the repair. 5-10 business days to receive the parts then they will set up a time for a tech to come out and make the repair. So I'm out a TV until the first week of Jan at least. This sucks as I have a house full of relatives arriving Saturday. I guess we'll talk a lot.
Two notes of interest:
1) when I was at Costco the other night I asked the TV guy if I could just bring back my TV even though it had just passed the 90 day return mark. A clear "no" was the response. "You need to contact Costco concierge service." Oh well
2) from just a few quick trials with Costco on the phone, they, LG and Precision TV all seem to know what the problem is and the parts needed to fix it. Hmm, convinces me LG knows they have a problem with these TV's and what the fix is. Frustrating. Oh well.
Now I wait...

Does your Denon support ARC? I have an Onkyo with ARC. I ran the HDMI cable from the #1 HDMI port on the TV( the only port that supports ARC) to the receiver and all is good.
Yes, it does... And I used HDMI 1 port on the TV. Still puzzled...
News: I managed to make ARC work. I did so many configuration changes that I'm a bit lost. But I know it is related to Simplink. In fact, Simplink has always been enabled but I disabled and re--enabled it and then ARC worked.

The bad news is that, same as the optical cable, ARC outputs a 2.0 audio... This is really frustrating! Is there any configuration I could try?

By the way, I gave up ARC and went back to the optical cable. The reason is Simplink: it has some great features (like turning off the TV's speakers and controlling the receiver's volume via the TV remote control, all automatically) but it tries to be smarter than necessary and messes up. With Simplink enabled, each time I turn on the TV, the receiver turns on. And sometimes, also the Blu Ray Player. I use a Logitech Harmony remote control, which manages all on/off automatically, Simplinkl breaks it totally.

Hi, everyone I recently purchased this TV and I have a couple questions. I am also new here. tezzmin, I am using your picture settings and it does look fantastic. Does it work well with video games such on xbox 360?

Also, does anyone notice a certain lag on the 42ls5700? It's very slight but it is noticeable especially when another TV in my house is playing the same show, even in video games. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks in advance!

Glad you like the settings, I am finally leaving it alone since my last updated settings.

I don't see any issues with PS3 but Shredo did mention he had lag while playing the Wii back in post #113 or so.
Rename the input to PC to minimize the lag
post #164 of 203
I used Tezzmin's setups, and the picture quality has improved. I make my picture a shade brighter, but the colors especially are better.

I've had a recurring issue, and I figured I'd post here before making a seperate thread.

My TV sits too far from my router to get a consistent signal, so I bought a wifi extender and it really helped. Now I can stream Netflix on the 5ghz band and it's so much smoother than before.

For some odd reason, though, my TV keeps re-connecting to the router itself. It doesn't do it immediately; often it'll wait a week before doing it. I won't even notice until Netflix gets choppy and blotchy, and when I check the network settings the TV has disconnected itself from the extender and hooked up with the router again. I've reconnected so many times I have my router's password memorized.

What could be causing this? Am I missing some stupid little step? Could the wireless card inside the TV be wonky? I don't have that much warranty left.
I would make sure it isn't the wifi extender. I would also try using a 2.4ghz network if you have one. The 5ghz could be just a bit out of range?

Does anyone know how I would connect my Nintendo Wii to the 42LS5700 -- not sure if it is possible, but I'm a newbie to this as I just purchased my LG on the weekend. Thanks in advance.

From the back of Wii there is a long gray cable, one end plugs into the wii (the end with small box) and the other end with red, white and yellow composite cables plugs into the AV area on back of TV. They are color coded so red-red, yellow-yellow, white-white. Plug in the Wii, plug in sensor bar to back of wii and then set the wii sensor bar on or under tv in clear view of the gamers. Turn on the wii and the tv. then press home button on tv point and click inputs icon, then point and click on the AV input. This will switch the tv to AV input and the wii should show up on screen.

Final update (I hope)
After some back and forth with Precision TV about the repair date, the tech finally came out on Janury 3rd. Problem started on Dec 9th. It was the "T con" board. Otherwise known as the timing controller board. It lives on the backside near the bottom of the TV. The web is full of images of it. It took the tech longer to take off the screws than it did to replace the board. He said that he's seen lots of the 60" TV's from LG with this probelm. I found on the web that a lot of TV's have this problem, not just LG. Anyway, all is good now. The Tv works just as good as new. My only complaint is about how long it took. But I guess I'm lucky its under warranty and it cost me nothing.

Is this noted somewhere? I don't see how that would change anything.

I'm pretty sure it's not the extender; every other device I've connected to it hasn't been dropped once. I guess it could be the 5 ghz band since the TV is the only thing using it, but the extender is only about 20-25 feet away from the TV and the TV shows full bars every time I check the connection.

The router is a Cisco dual-band, and the extender is a Netgear dual- band. I suppose they could be "arguing" with each other about the 5 ghz band. If the wonkiness doesn't stop I guess I'll just put the TV back on the 2.4 ghz.

My new 55ls5700 does not have the de-blur option you mention either, altho, the first thing it did was an update. Your settings are a great improvement from the out of the box pic, the soft "soap opera" blur was very bad on the out of the box pic.

Hi Tezzmin,

I have tried your setting on my 60LS5750 unit but could not change the Black Level to "low" since it was greyout!! Please let me know how to adjust this option

Thanks!!

I think my 60LS5750 is having this same problem. We were using the TV a week or so ago and the picture shut off. Turning the set on and off got us some bright flashes along the right side of the display and then no picture, but sound. After a unplugging the set and trying to power it again we lost the flashes and moved on to just black screen with sound. Contacted the Costco Concierge service and went through the standard tech support script with them so that they would contact LG. In short order they had a repair service contact us who claimed that he has fixed a lot of these sets with this problem in the Seattle area. HIs opinion was that this TV was very close to needing a recall from LG over this failure. He ordered the replacement part and wasn't sure what the timeline would be as this was a "hot" part that was getting harder to come by. All of this information was disheartening. We really have been enjoying the TV up until this, and have had great success with other LG products in the past. Hopefully once this is repaired we don't have anymore incidents.

Sorry I haven't been on here lately. When black level is greyed out what device is the tv getting signal from and what type of connection? Is your set updated?

Thanks Tezzmin for this setting, it's wonderful that you share the calibration setting with us. It's a bit hard to find much information about this TV model on the internet.

Calibrated with this setting and the skin tone looks much better compare to the previous setting. But white scene look much yellowish compare to the previous setting. This is expected right?

I didn't notice. Is your color temp set to medium? That setting will change the white tone.

I picked up the LG 60LS5750 this past Saturday, it replaced a very nice 47" Sony. My room is very bright during the day and the windows are in front of the TV (worst case). I was looking for a matte finished screen, and this TV has one of the best anti-glare screens. Also got a great price under $1K for the floor model (Costco). Very happy with the PQ with the Cox cable box, Netflix and Sony BlueRay. Started with the setting provided by tezzmin (thanks) and changed a little for my taste. While adjusting it seemed a small change can make a big difference. Still trying to get better details in the blacks. The TV has a ton of contrast and the flash-lighting seems minimal. The wife is happy, so all is good.

Things I'm trying to figure out. While watching a BlueRay, "Looper". There was a dark scene with a bight white light in the back ground and it caused a blue flash across the screen, anyone else seen this? I went through the Sony "Red Flash" and that was crazy till the TV got an firmware update. I like having different settings for the different inputs, the skin colors are very good. I get a little "Soap Opera" look on the new shows, any suggestions? Those CSI shows seem over-saturated and dark, drives me crazy. The remote is ok, except the cat totally flips out at the cursor. The Smart TV is ok, but think I will continue to use my Logitech Google TV, seems to stream better. Question, is Netflix part of the standard apps? I had to go thru the browser to get it working. Sports look great, still not certain I'm on the right settings, seems pretty smooth. Another question can you record on a USB jump drives?

The only setting I know of that you can try playing with to eliminate SOE would be truemotion. (set to off?)

I think the previous setting for color temp is set to cool. That's why the tone is different. After change the color temp to med, everything looks wonderful. Thanks again tezzmin

I bought recently the 55LS5700.
Based on the settings of tezzmin, I love the picture quality.
I think I am already quite familiar with the TV, however one question remains.
In my region, the LS5700 is "only" Wi-Fi ready, this means I have to buy an USB Dongle to have wireless connection.
One reason, my router has no more connections available, second reason, I would like to have Wi-Fi Direct with my Nexus 4 and Nexus 7.
However, the LG Dongle AN-WF100 costs over 60 USD.
Anyone knows whether it has to be the LG USB Dongle or has anyone already experience whether a standard USB Wi-Fi Dongle will work also.

Cheers
Tom
