I'm trying to figure out how video processing should be enabled in my home theater. My projector is an Epson 9700UB with has the Silicon Optix HQV Reon-VX with PW 390 video scaler. I just added an Anthem MRX700 AVR which has a Genesis Torino. Right now, I use the pass through feature in my MRX700 to pass the native signal directly to my projector. The only real annoyance is that when I my source switches resolutions, the screen flickers as my projector changes modes to handle the 720p/1080i/1080p signal. If I use my MRX700, I can have it convert the signal to a set resolution (I'd go 720p over 1080i), but in this scenario, I've now got 2 levels of video processing happening (I can't defeat the projectors) and I'm a firm believer that more processing means more noise and degradation of the original signal. Thoughts?
