We can't verify 100%, but it looks like Dan Kostyshak and "Kosty" are the same person given what info we have and his absence. Very sad. frown.gif

Vader - you know him personally?

****.

I had previously thought his first name to be "Dana", but perhaps "Dan" is correct. We really need some verification on this. I e-mailed Tom Arnold but have yet to get a response. I know Kosty had spoken to him several times.

This is his business:
113 Kostyshak Rd, Binghamton, NY 13903
(607) 797-3707

I can't call. I won't call. Someone else needs to.

I handle research at HMM and would receive regular emails from him up until a few weeks ago, when he indicated he would be busy with his business commitments and would pick up making charts from our data after that. Then I never heard from him again. I peek in on these forums from time to time and noticed he stopped posting here too, and some posters were wondering where he was so I just Googled his name and the bio in the obit was consistent with what I knew about him. But other than email exchanges I had never met him. But I never encountered anyone so enthusiastic about our charts.

Nooooo!

(If true) I'm so sad right now. What a wonderful contributor Kosty has been for all these years. I was addicted to his updates and I always have appreciated his work, character and enthusiasm.
Oh man....

Really sad right now. Kosty was such a trooper. He invested so much time to bring us daily information about our hobby/profession. He will be missed!! As a Army vet I salute you Kosty.

After all these years I still miss Cliff Waston, another avid AVS poster. RIP Cliff & Kosty.

Guest book here.

I think that would be a great idea. Many of us knew him through his dedicated posts, and it's very easy to miss this thread.

While I never met him, we had participated in a number of common threads and shared some PMs over the years. Dan was always thoughtful and gracious. Strange, how we can develop friendships and bonds through postings on an anonymous forum like this. I feel as though I've just learned of the death of a friend.

He will be missed.

Ah, we lost a good man. A really good man. May he rest in peace. And his family to find the strength to get past this truly sad moment. Feel so fortunate to have known him....

The following would surely have put a smile on Kosty's face. It is probably a new record for Blu-ray at 39%.

Wendall,

I am sure it would have indeed. I am way late in just reading about Kosty passing away........Very sad to hear this as he was always a fun read in these forums. Only 53 years old.... Thanks Kosty for all you did for us AVS members.
