Need help picking a HDTV for gaming

Hiya folks,

So here's my problems, recently I brought myself a Samsung UN46EH6000 and was really displeased with it. Games like Gears of War 3 and Resident Evil 5 look horrid so I had to return it. I used to own a Samsung LNT4061F but of course it started to have issues, such as ghosting, and now its time to replace it. Fellow AVSers, which HDTV for gaming do you recommend I should get? The LNT4061F really did the job but I'm afraid of current HDTV. Losing lots of sleep on it. : (

Preference

- 40-46inch TV

- Price range $700-$1000

What do you mean by "look horrid"? What was it exactly that displeased you about the set?

Probably because of the very slow VA panel used on the EH models.

I'd probably give the Panasonic and JVC Blackcrystal sets in your price range a local viewing if I were looking right now.

That's the thing; I've read some pretty opposite comments/reviews regarding this set - some say it's awesome and don't notice any hint of motion blur, ghosting, whatever (or, at the very worst, a little bit), while others say it's horrible, they can't look at the image without throwing up (I'm blowing this negative comments out of proportion, but you get my point)...

The only real feedback I've seen, that's somewhat revealing of the (lack of?) quality of this set is a pair of Youtube videos, one of them being gaming of Battlefield 3 - and it didn't look horrible; in fact, I couldn't perceive any kind of fault with the image from that said set. I know Youtube videos are a long shot for trying to get a feel for what a TV is worth, but I didn't dislike what I've seen live either; granted it wasn't much, and it was in a BB-like chain here in my country, but still...

I mean, this changes from one person to another, but going for a kind of absolute measurement - is this set as awful as some make it sound, regarding motion performance...?

I went a head and brought a LN40D630 and not too pleased with that too. I assume there is nothing similar to the LNT models anymore? Gonna return it 2maro. Thanks for the feedback guys never knew it was so hard to get the right TV for me : (

Ulso when I said horrid, I mean the soap opera effect it has for gaming. I tried turning off auto motion and turn on gaming mode to no avail. It look really bad. Any other suggestion would be helpful ('.')b
