CONTEST: Make our Blu-ray Reviews Avatar!

AVS Blu-ray Review Avatar Contest!

As many of you know, our Offical AVS Blu-ray Reviews are done by Ralph Pott's and Lee Weber and we want your help in making them a new avatar to go with the new site. (The one they have now really does not do them justice as a reviewer.)

So this is your chance to have your work again part of the new AVSF style and not only win the admiration of others with the use of your avatar design for the reviewers avatar, but also win your choice of three of Ralph's Top 20 Picks to show off your video display. (Excluding the complete Star Wars Saga. (costly)) Heck, we will even get Ralph to sign the boxes just for fun.

So designers, the Avatar should look to blend, or include in some way, AVS, Blu-ray (words, color, whatever), and Reviewer somehow if you can. More or less we are looking to be sure it represents AVS Blu-ray Reviewer. (I wanted Ralph's and Lee's photos to be used but they would not for go it. smile.gif)

How will the winner be chosen? Ralph and Lee, ok mostly Ralph as head reviewer, will choose the winner. After all, it is their Avatar. But feel free to post your comments for them to read on the ones you may like. smile.gif

As for the specs... Avatars will display on their profile page are 175X175 and scale down to 80X80 in posts so let's submit them here at 175 in either .png, .gif, or .jpg file types. All submissions must be your own copyright free work thus then granting us the right of free use for. No animated avatars will be used.

When will this end? Lets say 2 weeks from today's date of Tuesday June 12th. So...Tuesday the 26th.

Please be sure to use this thread for your submissions.

This is just a quick and easy way to have some more fun.

THANKS ALL.

Am I correct in assuming the above instructs us to allocate space for Ralph or Lee's name?
Thanks,

No...More or less that the avatar should standout as a AVS Blu-ray reviewer avatar.

BTW...Wajo...as much as I like your named avatar...you did not meet the requirements for this one. wink.gif

It isn't quite as clean as I would like it to be and no transparent background, but before I go too far I wanted to submit to see if the concept works...

125
57

As it stands, this is wider than it is tall.. so when scaled down for posts it is hard to read the text...

Pass #2 has the grey/white banner below and has added transparency to the image:

175
80

While I liked the idea of the text in a circle around the disc image, it just isn't going to be readable and that is important... so right now I like the 2nd submission better than my first.

I'm not artistic or terribly creative, but I see an animated view of a person next to a reel 2 reel projector viewing a screen with the avs\bluray logo.

You forced my hand. Here is my pathetic attempt at my idea. The yellow thing in the left bottom corner is a generic person watching the screen.

These were only meant to give someone with artistic ability an idea. This is a little closer.
Still keeping my day job wink.gif

Yes, 1st one here. Potts is already using it (has been for a day or more).

Congratulations ajohnson1! Your fine entry is a perfect match to the administrators existing avartar theme. In closing, a hardy well done to all contestants.

I like mine of course... but I also liked the ones in ajohnson's post. I hadn't noticed that one had been picked since there was no post and I hadn't read a review lately I don't think.
