Yamaha HTR-5990 Calibration Mic

I bought this used a while back and am getting ready to use it. I didn't get the calibration mic with it from the seller. I can use mine from my Pioneer VSX-23TXH, but I'd like to be able to calibrate it with another mic (I'll be using it in a different location soon). Without having to buy a Yamaha mic, which are kind of expensive, is there any other sort of mic that will work? In other words, will a standard mic, with the proper XLR to 1/8" plug work for this? Will my Pioneer mic even work properly with this?

Thanks for any ideas.

I am finally getting around to using this receiver and would like to calibrate it. Does anybody know if Yamaha mics are comparable to those used by other manufacturers? Alternately, can a standard mic be used? Thanks.

You need the correct Yamaha microphone..
Often these are available on e-bagger..

Cool. Thanks for the feedback. I'll get looking for a mic. I suppose the Pioneer mic would set distances correctly but might not set levels properly. At any rate, this receiver sounds pretty nice in 2-channel with a pair of Polk Monitor 40's! smile.gif
