I too have the unrecognized Update on the USB drive.

Downloaded the update
Extracted the files
Placed the three main files at the root of the USB along with the folder - everything is correct there.
Plug it in: Nothing. Cycle Power while plugged in: Nothing

I have done this three times with different freshly formatted USB thumb drives - I tried FAT and FAT32

It simply does not work

That's weird, I got my brand new TX-NR515 last week and the first thing I did was update the firmware. Worked fine when following the instructions on the website.

Having a problem with my NR616. When watching a movie from a DVD using the composite audio inputs I hear a random ticking sound, kinda like a sctarch on a record. Only happens on the right channel surround speaker. I tested everything and it is definetly coming from the receiver. Only happens on the composite input in simulated surround.
Not loud but iI only hear in the quieter scenes.
Has anybode seen (or heard) this before ?

Make sure you update to the latest firmware that *CAN* be updated over the Network. I believe it is mentioned on the firmware update page on the onkyo site.

After that, if you copy the current latest and greatest firmware to your USB drive, I believe it should be detected.

This is how I did my update the first day I got my TX-NR515, and it worked like a charm.

My 515 was previously working fine on my old Windows 7 PC, I had set up streaming and could control it from the 515's remote or iPhone app. No problems. The old computer died, I now have a new Windows 8 PC. I've imported all my music, enabled sharing, done everything I can think of - but the 515 will not stream from the new PC - I just get a "No Server" error. I'm using a wired ethernet connection.

The unit is present as a device on the network settings on the PC, and will stream internet radio, so obviously the network connection is ok. And it will connect, and stream from, my Windows 7 Netbook (which hooks into the network via wifi) when that is powered up.

Anyone got any ideas what's going on? Something I've overlooked when setting up libraries / sharing? Incompatible with Windows 8? I'm running firmware version 1130-9106-0300.

All help / suggestions gratefully received smile.gif

Loving this amp, only got it a month ago but almost everything has been awesome with it.

The one thing I'm having an issue with is the 3d pass through. I'm running 3dtv play on htpc with nvidia card to my Sony HX850. 3d ISOs work fine when running hdmi directly to the tv in 1080p, but when running through the amp the tv pops up saying there is 3d content, but blank screen. The 3d indicator on the amp doesn't light up.
But when I do 3d in 720p it passes through the amp properly.

Why does the amp not work with 23hz 1080p 3d?

Has anyone had trouble with ARC on the TX-NR616? I just can't get it to work properly, ever since I bought it a few months ago.

I think everything it is set up correct, because I've had it working 3 or 4 times without changing any settings, but as soon as it goes to standby, when turned on again it just won't connect anymore. The receiver seems unable to detect ARC. I have tried different cables, and the same TV worked perfect with the other, old cheap receiver I had.

Only way to get sound through ARC then is to do some magic ritual of pulling the power a few times, turn on TV and receiver, turn off TV, turn on TV again...then suddenly there is sound! Well, in about 1 in 10 times, that is...

Do you think this is a hardware or a software problem? I have the latest update installed from USB. I've seen there have been various HDMI problems with this receiver, but I'm not sure if they are related.

Connected receiver to TV via HDMI just to follow the onscreen display. I reiterate, no input devices or speakers are yet connected to this unit.

I took the following steps:

1. inserted USB drive into front USB port
2. powered on the receiver
3. pressed the "home" button on the remote to access the appropriate menu

Any idea as to the problem here? It doesn't appear that the USB drive is being recognized.

Thanks - Jim

Just picked up a NR-414 and I've noticed that that HDMI audio will cut out randomly.

Source: Zotac Zbox HDMI - Running Openelec - HDMI out
NR-414 - HDMI In and HDMI out to TV

The HDMI audio cuts out for about 2 seconds, picture remains perfect and no hiccups.

NR-414 is at current firmware level.

There is no sign of Audio cutout when Zbox is connected directly to the TV. Using the same video files during testing.

Anyone have any ideas?
