i will be running either of these recievers on martin logan electromotion esl speakers and a subercube 6000 sub. my main concern is should i wait for the newer models. to my knowledge both can support 2 subs in main zone (correct me if im wrong) and the only other feature that i may want is the 4k passthrough so i dont have to replace it 5 years down the line(id more than likely get a 4k TV by then) an suggestions are great or different route i can go too let me know. thanks!

I just pulled the trigger on a hardly used 55 that I should have by Friday. I decided to go with it because my current VSX1014 won't decode any of the loss less formats, the 55 is now showing up mint used for half of original list price and it more than covers my current needs. I feel it will support my entire home's needs, HT, Living Room and distributed audio with a little help from a few Nile's Amps.

I'd be wiling to be you could direct connect your video source to your projector if need be until you were ready to upgrade to something else.

That's cool I'm still debating the 4k passthrough being needed or not

I forget whether it was a 65 or 67, but Value Electronics had at least one in stock as of a week ago, so there's no need to wait. But even they said that aside from the 4K passthru, there's really nothing new (and IIRC, the new models have one less analog input.)

Also, unless you buy a BD player with 4K upscaling (and I reallly have to wonder whether there will be any perceived quality increase), there's no source material anyway, so I don't know what you'd be passing through. Chances are any 4K TV is going to do its own upscaling anyway and seeing as how high-end sets are expensive and most BD players are absurdly inexpensive, I'd trust the TV more than the BD player, unless it was a high-end OPPO or something similar.

I read a review today on the 55/57's that "hoped thay used the newest (whatever brand) chipset that would alow 4K support in the future.

This was mentioned since the (whatever brand) had video processors currently out that supported 4K.

Definitely need to do some more digging on this to be sure.

It's just mainly to future proof the reciever a bit, I get a discount on them where I work, can't seem to get the 55 now so now it's between the 67 and the marantz sr7007
