New LED purchase advice Samsung vs Sharp

Room:
Open living room / kitchen setup, with a 10ft distance between TV wall and sitting area.
The TV will be located 3ft from large bright windows to its left.
If anyone is curious, its floor plan #3 located here: http://cityfederalcondominiums.com/pdfs/city_federal_floorplans_2br.pdf

Usage:
This set will mostly be used by my wife.
Her viewing habbits include mostly non-action shows like HGTV, Food Channel, E!.
However she does watch college football.
She specifically mentioned wanting Pandora on the TV, we also have a Netflix account and being able rent non-ancient movies from another service would be nice as well.
We do not have a Blue-Ray collection, and only a modest DVD collection so most viewing would be broadcast or streaming.
3d is nice, but not something we would be interested in paying extra to obtain.

Televisions:
Samsung 60ES6100 $1900
Sharp LC-60LE845U $1900
Sharp LC-60LE745U $1700

I've read through the avaliable owners threads, seen them in person and have not been able to make a firm decision. Any advice on which television, or other televisions in the same range or cheaper would be very appreciated.

Thanks!

Out of your list, I would take the 60LE845. Higher refresh rate than either of the other two (which is good in larger screen sizes), and Sharp generally has better quality control and fewer complaints for their edge-lit sets. I don't think the Samsung is a great value for the money, and I also don't think its picture quality is better than the Sharp. The 8 series Sharps benefit from the brightness boost from the Quattron panel in 3D. To me, the $200 price delta between the 845 and the 745 isn't big enough the justify the purchase of the lower-spec'd model.

Thank you for the recommendation!

I was leaning towards the Sharps based on the reading I've done here but I have more familiarity and have usually gravitated towards Samsung (TV, Speakers, Phone).

I have an older UN46B8000XF that I'd got on sale a few summers ago. I unknowingly missed my chance to get in on both the beginnings of Samsung's Smart TV platform with the C series and the opportunity to have a full array back light with local dimming in the B8500 series just to save $400.

About 4 months after my purchase I'd realized what I'd missed out on and have tried to keep up with new things in the market so I wouldn't repeat the mistake. Over the past few years I've been pretty surprised that Samsung has completely abandoned full array back lighting in its high-end sets after the B8500 series; full array lighting always seemed less complex and more intuitive than edge lighting but I'd told myself they had some good technical reason for converting and PQ would get better.

Before I digress too far, what I'm getting at is that while I have some familiarity with Samsung TVs and features from their website and the forums here, I'm at a bit of a loss when it comes to the Sharp TVs - I've never owned one and the website isn't particularly detail oriented. So I appreciate the nudge in the right direction to help me overcome my inertia.

Well I have a monkey wrench to toss into this now.

After thanking you for clearing this dilemma up I got a little misty eyed over the B8500 and was able to find a 55" B8500 for a comparable price to the Sharp 745U. Obviously its not a Smart TV but I could still satisfy the wife's Pandora requirement by getting a Blue Ray player as part of a HT in-a-box setup.

So now between the 60" Sharp 845U and the 55" Samsung B8500 what would you recommend?
Its a 10ft viewing distance so I'm unsure if I'll notice the extra 5" over the PQ difference.

I have a Samsung UN55D8000 and i'd say get the largest tv that meets your performance needs. in otherwords try out the 60" and you can always return and get the Samsung.
