M & K S150THX question

Thread Starter
I have a chance to buy some brand new lcr M &K s150's for a decent price. I currently have some old Paradigm Monitor 90P's and a Paradigm cc.
I would like some opinions if I should make this change, if it would be an upgrade.
Thanks

Those S150's were very highly regrded and one of the first to get Ultra certification IIRC. I think they retailed for $1750/pr.
If it's a good deal, I would jump on it.

When you say "brand new", do you mean from the old M&K regime, or the new one?

If it is the "new" regime, named MK Sound, then there is a huge question mark as to the performance of the S-150MKII, and if it matches the original in performance.

If from the original regime, the S-150 had/has one of the most revealing and detailed midranges available. A highly regarded speaker.

MK Sound, from my understanding, has none of the engineers from the old M&K. When M&K went out of business, the owners of MK Sound basically bought what was left of the company.

As for the new S-150MKII, as far as I know, nobody has compared it to the original. Nobody has said what has changed.

What is it that is lacking on your Paradigms? I know they can't play louder than 105 dBs at the speaker without significant distortion.
