When is Sony HX950 release date? - Page 8

Sony follows a CEDIA release schedule pretty reliably with the XBR line. They have for quite some time, so I would expect that to continue.

I wonder if we will be able to buy a different stand for this TV. I like plain old black flat stands and that round chrome looking thing isn't doing it for me. Obviously I am not hanging the TV

Me either, but the solution is simple: Cover it with a nice black piece of fabric. Better yet, black velvet.

Okay, Sony just sent me an email that mine shipped using a shipper named "CEVA". Can't track when it shipped from yet but should have it pretty soon.

PS: Has anyone ever heard this simplicity full-motion mount? Costco has an instant $40 rebate on them now so it ended up costing about $100.

CEVA is the same company Amazon uses for TV's over a certain size. They will most likely call you when it's at their warehouse to schedule a delivery.

As for wall mounts, just buy one at MonoPrice.com You'll save a lot of money and still get a good quality mount.

I was casually looking online for info on the HX950 and was shocked to see it being released this month...wasn't it originally supposed to be released in November?...did something change or am I just out of the loop?

Received my shipment confirmation from Sony as well. The waybill indicates the sets arrived at LAX and were picked up by CEVA yesterday. So we should be getting them within a week.

I want to get the 65" but I see no discount for that one. Do you think there will be a similar discount soon for the 65"?

I'm interested in seeing how this compares to the HX929 as well as the Sharp Elite...hopefully they fixed the blooming issue from the HX929

Anyone heard or read what the VESA pattern is on the 65" 950?

In looking over the specs, I noticed the 950 cabinet depth is ~1/2" larger vs the 929 for both the 55 and 65" displays.

Perhaps it's to accomodate the larger # of LED zones. If it buys better PQ / decreased blooming, I'll take a slightly deeper cabinet any day.

Sony has $500 off on the 65" as well. Use the found a better price link at Amazon to get them to match or order directly from SonyStyle.

Probably only a week until Amazon is able to ship the 55" out since they've already made port. I'd definitely think before the 30th, as they currently have posted to be conservative.

I hope, Borderlands 2 is out and I want to enjoy it on my new TV.

The sizes of the 2012 850/750 models are deeper compared to the 2011 models also. I suspect and hope this is due to a increase in speaker depth size. The sound quality of these thin HDTVs annoys me as I don't want to fire up my 7.1 surround system just to watch and hear the news.

I don't see that on their site. At the top page they say "Save $500 instantly, while supplies last." but that is only on some of the models. If I go to buy a 65" there is no such discount yet that I can see....

According to Sony.com you can preorder now for a late Oct 2012 delivery.

Am I EVER happy I was pointed in the direction of these forums by a friend.

I was literally 12 hours away from going and buying a hx 920 here in Hong Kong 'on sale' for 6,800 usd (our prices are obviously not comperable to the US) down from list of 8,000 . For this market in that size panel, its the most expensive one followed by the Panasonic vt50 at 6,400 usd.

Funnily enough, the Sony Hong Kong website doesn't even mention anything about a hx950 (I gather the xx9 demarkation is for the US version). There is only the hx920 on that website.

Regardless, I am not going to be buying an imminently 'old' panel - I would pay the premium for the latest and greatest as I would hope to be getting 7 years out of it like my current set which is now going to be relegated to the den.

To be clear, the 950 (or 959 in US) sounds like its a 'full' led panel - smart backlit, whatever you want to call it; not an edgelit? I was quite impressed with the picture quality of the 929 but man would I have been po'd if I saw a 950 in the shops within a month of buying it.

Isn't the 65" touted to be released in November? When it gets closer to release some discounts could likely come into effect as word was that the 55" wouldn't be discounted but once it came to market it has been discounted $500.00. Time will tell.

FYI the old XBR in the US and Canada was the HX929 but the designation for this model in this region is HX950, not HX959. And the HX950 is definitely not edge-lit or some other tech like Samsung's direct-lit LED, it's full-array with local dimming (same as the the Elite), with an increase in dimming zones compared to the 929.

Well me likey then - but I shudder to think what the price will be here. I fired off an email to Sony here to ask when and how much. I am betting list price will be 8,000 usd. Ah, to be in the US, the land of the free all right; practically free tv's thats for sure in comparison to here!

I'd love the 65" but: a) I can't wait and b) that's a pretty big price jump up.

If things go well this year I'll move the 55" in the bedroom and put a 65" out in the living room.

P.S.: I also ordered the Sony Proforma Gallery Style Mount. Looks about as flush as you can get. Mistake?

Does ABT charge sales tax? I know Amazon does in Texas now. Also, does Amazon have a good return policy on TVs?
