I almost bought one, but was first wanted to verify that it could be secure erased from some form of boot media, i.e. PartedMagic. I use PartedMagic to secure erase my Crucial M4 SSD and a Intel 320 SSD without issues. But I read that for the Samsung 830s, PartedMagic creates a problem during secure erase by wiping out the Samsung serial number on the SSD, that is, it sets the serial number to a string of zeros (00000000, not sure how many).
For more information, see here (PartedMagic forum post):http://forums.partedmagic.com/viewtopic.php?t=2172
I've always wanted to try out a Samsung 830 SSD based on its good reputation, but need to have a reliable solution for secure erase before I buy. So to any 830 users out there, what do you use to secure erase your SSD? Thanks in advance.Edited by Vlad Theimpaler - 6/13/12 at 8:21am
