Centerl channel to match Mackie MR5

Thread Starter
I currently have a pair of Mackie MR5's and an energy 10.3 sub hooked upto a Marantz 1402 AVR.

Looking to add a center channel to help bring up the dialogue as I don't like listening particularly loud.

I have read about how important matching is and I have searched to see if anyone else has done this kind of setup and I haven't found any information. Looking to be pointed in the right direction as this will be my first center channel purchase...Would like to stay under $200.

Another Mackie MR5 would be best if you could place it where you want it.

I do not have another pre-amp output available on the reciever, it needs to be a passive speaker.

You've got a challenge since Mackie doesn't make a passive studio monitor. Since you're using studio monitors as your LR, maybe something like the Behringer Truth B2030P might work. It's not going to be an exact match (although I do recall reading years ago that the Behringers were modelled after an older Mackie design), but I believe the Mackie MR5 have tone controls so you may be able to tweak their tone to match the Behringer.
