Time to buy some tools, I think - Page 2

I found that particularly while framing I had to repeat cuts and being able set a stop with the miter saw made for quick and easy exact size cuts. Measure twice; cut once. And cut again. And again. And again...

Thought I would bump this thread with a little product review. I mentioned earlier that I bought the Ridgid drill and impact driver set, and I've finally had a chance to play with them a bit. I've been building a wood fence (about 500' of it), and I've put both drills thru their paces. My first impressions are mixed. I like the drill. Plenty of torque and also plenty fast. I really don't like a slow drill. The impact driver is nice, but I think it might be a bit much for just driving screws. I haven't run across a screw so far that the drill wouldn't drive just as well and I'm using 3" deck screws into the posts. I think it will be really nice for driving the lag bolts into the gates tho.

My biggest complaint may be a bit premature, but right now the battery life doesn't seem to be too stellar. My 10 year old Dewalt with NiCad's outlasted it by a long stretch, and I bought the Ridgid because the Dewalt wasn't lasting as long as it used to. Ive got a few more days of fence left, so I'll see if things improve any.

Interesting. I used a Milwaukee impact at work a few months ago and it put 3" lags into studs so fast it made me mad. And I never thought my 10 year old DeWalt 18V was underpowered by any means.

You should have room for subs.

It came with an alpine radio capable of playing tunes from my I-stuff and MP3 on a USB stick. I was actually doing some googling for ideas on under seat subs etc. The receiver has 4 channels but only two are in use powering some wimpy in door speakers. Ideas are always welcome.

DANG! Yes, I'm sure that with the couch in there there's no room for IMPORTANT stuff. Guess I have to find a NEW friend with a truck.

Isn't that an ice cream shop in the background, across the street? One thing I'll say for BIg...he doesn't waste any time.
