Prog lives in 2012! New Steve Hackett, Chris Squire album in 5.1.

There's an album that just came out named A Life Within A Day by Squackett] that has to be one of the worst band names ever but I think is a really good album. There's a deluxe edition that has a CD/DVD with a surround mix but I think it's only released that way in the UK.

If anyone wants to give a listen, there's a bunch of songs up on youtube. I'm surprised how much I like most of them.

Thanks for posting this--it would have totally snuck by me. I am going to order it just to enjoy the surround!

I just ordered this from amazon.co.uk, along with the latest Anathema (the one with the DD 5.1 mix). A bit expensive for the Squackett, but the Anathema was much cheaper than the price on Burning Shed, which is a little odd (usually they are a bit more competitive).

I know the Anathema is avail as a Lossless FLAC 5.1 download via BS, but I'm not in the mood to burn 5.1 DVD-As right now, so I'll settle for DD5.1. Yes, I'm a heretic, and must be burned...

Amazon US has 2 separate versions of this. One is $14 and the other is $20, both listed as one disc CD's. Maybe they screwed up the listing? I'm going to wait a week or so to see if it gets straightened out- especially since the last thing I got from Amazon UK got opened by customs. eek.gif

I listened to some previews on Amazon and was intrigued. Sounded like it was more influenced by Hackett than Squire given the solo stuff of theirs that I've heard or own. I ordered the CD. Does the DVD have 24/96 2ch PCM?

I order things from Amazon.co.uk from time to time and never had anything opened by customs, or at least it wasn't noticeable. You must be on some "list". smile.gif

LOL. I've ordered over a dozen times from them and never had a problem before. It was the Ziggy Stardust album. Maybe they x-rayed the box and no one had ever seen vinyl before! Actually the Amazon account is in my wife's name. I told her I'd bake her a cake with a file in it when I visit her in jail! biggrin.gif

I did a bunch of checking around and couldn't find anything on it. I did read the 5.1 is DTS.

Here's an interesting link that goes into a bit of depth about the album. There's also a ton of info about other members of Yes, if you're interested.

I'm warming up to this disc--most modern prog leaves me cold, but this is pretty listenable. And varied, too....the guitar lick on the 2nd track sounds a bit like "Soul Power" albeit languid!
