HDMI handshake issue (I think)

So just built a new computer, G850 cpu, AMD 6670 (Cat 12.1), Biostar TZ77B mobo (newest BIOS), feeding a Denon AVR791 and Samsung DLP. Routing the HDMI 6670 > Denon > TV gives me a black screen. Input on the Denon appears mapped correctly and I've tried the i/p scaler both off and analog/HDMI with a output rez that my TV accepts. Turned devices on in various orders, no difference. If I hook the 6670 directly to the TV it is fine, alternately if I switch to my BD player that goes through the receiver it shows just fine to. Tried 3 different inputs on teh Denon also.

As a work around I tried going DVI to the TV and HDMI to the receiver, I get a picture but still no sound on the Denon. Volume control shows AMD HDMI as the sound device. I seen a mention of extending the display to the denon (with TV as main) but I see no way to do that, AMD only shows the TV when I detect devices. What do you guys think? Through all this the Denon screen shows no indication of a signal, it just shows Auto and Analog, and I think those should change to HDMI and Digital when it detects a signal, at least that is what it does when my BD player starts.

Ugh. I have a similar setup and the ATI drivers for me were a nightmare. I went through what seemed like dozens of drivers before finding one that fixed some of the problems but never really was perfect. For the longest time I thought this was "normal" because I just didn't know any better at that time.

I finally gave up and moved on to NVidia and Intel which for whatever reason seem to work better with Denon and my DLP.

Did you try removing the 6670 and using the Intel gpu?

You shouldn't have to remove it. Just connect to the motherboard HDMI (or VGA to remove even more variables) and switch to using the iGPU as the primary device in Bios.

I think I did try the igpu once, but that was early in the process so maybe another setting was wrong somewhere. I'll try again.

I used the 12.1 drivers since that was recommended to have stable HDMI passthrough, but I'm not even that far along to know if 12.1 is any good because I can't even see the POST screen...

Agreed. Get out an old VGA monitor and try to set it up using the VGA output if possible. Getting into Bios doesn't involve any display drivers but I have run into a few motherboards that are picky and prefer that you use the VGA prior to installing Windows or your OS.

If I connect directly to the TV I get a picture. In the bios the gpu was set to auto, also tried it as pcie, no difference.
