Broken HDMI USB connection

If enough stress was put on things to break the plug while it was plugged into the TV, it is likely the the socket in the TV was damaged, and maybe the traces on the board to which it is connected. For all practical matters, it will probably mean replacing the board.

The other problem you could have is that if this isn't done correct, you can further damage anything hooked-up into the port or cable. While HDMI supply line is nowhere near "high power" it is enough to cause smoke and damage if the rewiring isn't done properly. We've also discussed in the past whether a repair changes the cable impedance enough to prevent HDMI's high speed signals from getting through without errors.

Bottom line is (I think) the best thing to do is to throw out HDMI cables that have been damaged and run new lines. It's just not an easily/safely repairable cable.

Replacing the system board is probably your best bet on the TV since you would need the ability to repair board traces to actually fix the problem. You would have to check with Samsung for the price.

Also, in the future, there are little pigtails that can be used to reduce the stress on the cable to prevent these types of occurances. Monoprice sells some, I believe.
