Possible Projectors For Gaming & Occasional TV Purposes?

So I finally invested in real estate and bought a condo, I never really liked TVs because I like a big screen especially when gaming and the price to size ratio on a TV is never that great.

I ended up with a budget of $2000 or less, mainly because the wires, AV system, screen and everything else is going to cost a good bit as well.

I have been looking at the InFocus IN3118HD because it has some good specs for the price.

I do have a few windows behind where my seating is and directly shining light onto the projector screen which is why I am going for a high brightness, I was thinking +3000 lumens.

Also I dont quite know the measurements as the offer has yet to actually close (I pick up the key in 1 week) so I am going off the measurements on the listing.

I should have approximately 4 - 4.5 meters (13 - 15 feet) between where the projector will be mounted and where the screen is, so I haven't quite figured out if I need a short throw projector to get a good sized screen or if I can get away with a regular projector, since I also haven't seen any 1080p short throw projectors. I would hope to get at least a 100 inch screen out of the projector I get given the minimum distance (4-4.5 meters).

Thanks in advance for all your input, it is REALLY appreciated since I am very noob when it comes to using projectors for home theaters and all.

There are quite a few things you have to figure out before we can make a recommendation, but I will give some general ideas.
First, do you know if you are RBE sensitive (rainbow effect from DLP that some are bothered by, yet some are not), one reason I ask is because most of the bright DLP projectors will generally have more RBE than the pure Home Theater (darker) DLP projectors.

I would try to block those windows out, light shining directly onto a screen is going to look bad even with a bright projector (except in the case of very bright scenes like Sports and some TV, news, etc..). Movies will in general look washed out because of the many semi-dark contrast shots.

That said, if you are not worried about RBE and you still want to try to fight the light, here are two projectors to do so (Benq sh910 or Optoma th1060p):

Most of the modern projectors can easily do 100"+ screen at that distance, so that is not a big concern. Also, you need to realize that which projector you buy also depends on mounting flexibility. Most DLP's do not have lens shift, so they need to be mounted pretty much precisely in one single position, whereas LCD's (and LCOS) often have a lot of lens shift to allow placement flexiblity. With a DLP this means the projector needs to be mounted horizontally centered and vertically above the screen (usually 6"+ to 18"+) depending on your screen size (the bigger the screen, the higher the DLP will need to be mounted).
