Remote question ?

I woul like to use my laptop with a projector, and be able to control the laptop's mediaplayer with a remote but the main thing is the laptop won't be in sight...

So my question would be, do i need a RF remote or can i control my laptop with a IR remote too ?

Both solutions seems complicated... apart from the rf-based solution.

What about Bluetooth technology ? Like the TiVo Slide ? It should work out of the box too like the rf-based solution ?
