You have ARC mode on and HDMI cable 1.4 right

I have hdmi 1.4 cables but I don't have ARC mode on, I believe that's only to send audio back through the hdmi cable to the receiver if you happen to go to the TV first, which in my setup I don't really need.

Thanks to your advice, I decided to pull the trigger. Amazon has the 55LM9600 at $2074.00 It's $74 more than I wanted to pay, but I wanted it for my birthday next week. I hope I get a good set. Thanks to all the posters here I know what problems to be looking for (light bleed, motion trails, etc.). This will be my first hdtv.


How long would you say the "break-in" period is? Will the trails and light-bleed go away after a break-in or if I notice it right away should I look to exchange it?

Yes I was looking to see if anybody had messed with the depth or I think there is something else to give more pop. I don't know what I'm doing when I move them left or right and it starts to hurt my eyes lol. So, I was wondering if anybody could explain the calibration or recommend a setting for the 3D only. I already calibrated my set to the flatpanels review. Thanks.

I do believe there is a break-in period. My TV seemed to get better as far as less clouding, etc. as time went on. I think the update we got a while back also helped a lot. I do like the TV very much and am happy I purchased it at a great price. Well worth it in my opinion.

Hey not sure if this is a Canada only thing, but today and tomorrow is future shops 30th anniversary sale and this TV is $1999, I'm there right now getting my price adjusted.

Why there is a difference? are both TV s are not same? is Asia version is better? I am planning to buy this TV in couple of days. This is confusing me, any help or comment is a great help!! Thanks

The TVs could be slightly different as it was released in Asia and Europe first and are built for different voltages and signals. I wouldn't go by those reviews or too many others out there as most of them were done prior to the TV actually being released in June/July in the US. Since most of the reviews were done, LG has improved on the TV and the latest firmware update addressed a few of the big issues like the blurring as confirmed by some of the users on this forum.
As far as reviews go, unless companies do an updated review after a TV has been released for a while you are looking at ones that are prior to release and out of date. The best way to find out if a TV is worth buying is to read buyer reviews on the various online retailers or find one that was done after the TV has been on the market for a while on a current set. There will always be bad reviews for any TV, but I think this TV has quite a few good reviews out there by actual users.

Right now in best buy, I m disappointed I would say. Picture quality and the design I like 8600 more.

Is there any major in terms of picture quality not technical spec like nano led I do not care.

I am really confused and plasma are much better but not bright.

Depends the environment the TV going to be in, The 9600 has a great 3d and the Picture quality is amazing. I dunno how the 3d is with the plasma, go the plasma section and ask.

Some how, If I compare 1 to 1 with LM8600 and LM9600, I see 8600 has good quality of picture. am I missing something? how do I check if at all i have to check. I gone to store to purchase 8600 and came back without making decision. Speck says LM9600 is the best. I am confused.

If you are looking at the quality of the picture in the store it is not a good comparison sometimes. They are not calibrated to their potential and I looked at them side-by-side in the stores myself before I made my purchase. Those of us who do have the LM9600 can attest to how great the picture looks when calibrated the way some of us have posted. Over all the LM9600 is much better than the LM8600 in my opinion.

I had a question for some people in this thread to get their opinion, I used the calibration settings from the link posted in this thread, but I wanted to get thoughts on peoples opinions of getting an actual ISF calibration, I actually booked one for the beginning of November but I'm having trouble deciding if it's actually worth it or not, i can still cancel it.

I've never had one done professionally. I have always found something online that gave me a great picture, but I am not that picky about the quality as long as it looks good to me personally. If you are someone who really cares about the picture quality at the highest level then maybe getting it calibrated professionally is the way to go. If you do, make sure it is a reliable company/person. I have heard stories of people having it done and the picture quality was no better than before.

I think its a good a idea if you have the money to spend. Give us an update if you go through with it

my set will be pro. calibrated tom. and i will update the result after tom. and yes it is woth it. PQ will be much more better than out of the box.

I picked up this set a couple of weeks ago from Amazon. The first set had serious flash lighting at the bottom. I returned for a replacement and received a new display that didn't have any of the flash lighting problems. I do have some minor hot spots on the top right and bottom left corners, but nothing major. Overall I find the PQ phenomenal (I can from a 52XBR4). 3D is really cool with none of the flickering you get with active glasses. Very happy with this display.

Anyway, the reason for my post is there was a firmware update today to version 04.12.27. There's nothing on LG's website about it. Anyone know what's changed?

Finally I bought my 55LM9600 :-) ....As soon as turned on, it asked me to update the software version 04.12.27. I updated. As i did not had older version experience i really do not know what to compare with. however as usual 3D looks amazing!! But light bleeding and flash lighting, how to check these? I think background has lot of white flash all over the scree, I have pre ordered the PS3. As of now what ever I can access from online I can, i cant play any Blu rays or DVDs.

do i have any on line contents so that I can check the black levels and light bleeding is within limit? Please advise and also what is calibration and how to do it

All seems fine on my set. Picture is still fantastic. Sounds like you might have something wrong with your set?

How did it turn out?? Can share your calibration

I tried setting ISF1 to the calibrations used Here:

However, I could not find how to set the ones below RGB Method (R High, R Low, G High, G Low, etc.). Where do I find these? How do I set them? With the rest of the calibrations set like the above link the picture does not look better to me. The colors seem off and it seems darker. I'd almost rather go back and reset it all to defaults. Please help.

how long did it take to calibrate(both 2d and 3d?)? did you see a "night & day" difference before and after the calibration or was it just a little better than the out of the box settings?

it take 2 hours and 20 mins for both 2D and 3D. and i have now ISF Day and ISF Night locked settings as well as for 3D. ofcourse i noticed it right away the difference when my set was calibrated already. all colors are much much detailed compared from out of the box. im happy.
