Have watched about 20-30 hours of Netflix without a single hang up. Also, the TV has never rebooted once since the last firmware and also getting a new router. Not sure which part of it did the trick. SJ

Does anyone know if there is a way to hack the USA 9600 to turn on the DVR function?

To people who have the DVR enabled, how does the DVR work? Easy to use? Good quality? Etc...

Thanks in advance for your reply.

DVR? I recently had my main board replaced and didn't see anything looking like that in the guts of the thing..... SJ

You need to hook-up a USB hard drive. Some countries have the SW for the DVR function enabled. Just wondering if anyone actually figured out how to turn this on for USA.

How do most of you have you STB hooked up? Into the AVR or TV? Is there any benefit either way? Im trying to figure out a way to listen to music from my AVR while having the TV on.

On the LV9500 forum they have turned on the DVR but it only works on air TV and not cable.
The LV9500 and the LM9600 are close and maybe the same on the service menu.

I have my Fios box hooked into my avr. I find it a little frustrating using the LG. Magic remote to go to specific channels(pointing it to the number grid). Is there another option with the LG remote? Thx.

Hello,

The 55LM9600 is on sale in Toronto for $2000. Initially I wanted this TV, but then started wondering if I should wait for the 2013 models to hit the store (55LA7400). With no more full array from LG, do you think $2000 is a good price for the LM9600?

Your thoughts?

I just bought the 55LM9600 two days ago for $1845 from Abe's of Maine: with the new models I'd have to wait for the prices to drop. I think it's a great deal right now. Locally (SF Bay Area), there are almost no 2012 LGs to be found and the stores that had the 9600 were still asking 2800+. I don't know if there's a lot of room for the price to drop much farther before they just aren't available.

Very, very long story but I got my 55lm9600 for $1k. Went through a couple returns to get this price. So I am thinking that prices will come down if you can wait.
Guys... need your views. Between LM9600 and LM8600 which one would you suggest - I am from India and there is a 500$ price difference here btw the two - price is not a factor if LM9600 is the better TV. From this thread it looks like LM8600 may be the better buy - and that horrendous cnet review is also worrying me.

I've just ordered the 55LM8600 online from Vanns for $1289 (brand new in factory sealed box). Then on my way home from work, I stopped into Sam's and was surprised to find they are selling the 55LM9600 there for $1448. That is an incredible price!

Now I'm wondering if I should cancel my online order and buy the 55LM9600 from Sam's. The advantage of buying from Sam's is I have 90 days to return if I don't like it. They have at least 10 of them on the floor. This was in the Lone Tree store in Colorado.

So, does anyone here recommend I should upgrade to the LM9600 for the extra $150 to get the Nano LED TV and the 480hz features on the 9600???

I think those are the 2 major differences between the 8600 and 9600.

I would spend the $150 and go for the 9600. That's over $1,000 less than what I paid for mine back in July. I've been very satisfied with it.
I have owned both and the 9600 picture and sound is superior. However the 8600 has better styling IMHO.
Thank you both for your feedback.

It turned that my LM8600 was already in transit so I wasn't be able to cancel it.

I will wait and see how it turns out. FedEx just called with a 2 hr delivery window for tomorrow so I'm excited!

I'm also expecting to receive from Amazon tomorrow the Avatar 3D and Hugo 3D. I also plan to rent Life of Pi 3D from Blockbuster to test out this 3D TV.

Any other top 3D movies you guys enjoyed on your LM9600?
TBH I can't find any places around me that rents 3-D movies.

Help! Help! Help! Please! (I know this is the LM9600 owner's thread but I'm hoping for advise on settings that I can try on my LM8600. I've posted this same message on the LM8600 thread as well.)

Just received my new 55LM8600 yesterday and I am very disappointed with the picture quality and the color.

The white is not bright white like my 2 48" samsungs, but more on the greyish side. The ESPN banner and logo are more on the orange side rather than red. The overall picture and color are just not bright and vivid like on my samsungs. There are no "wow" factor in the picture (unlike what I saw at Best Buy on the LM7600 display model). My 2 samsungs are 6 years old still at factory default settings and both have amazing pictures.

I've tried the calibration settings shown in the article below but the picture on the LG is still not that good.

http://reviews.lcdtvbuyingguide.com/lg-lcd-tv/lg-55lm8600-picture-settings.html

Does anyone have suggestions on the settings that I should try? Please help! Thank You!

I've seen the display models at Costco (LM6700) and Sams (LM9600) and Best Buy (LM7600) and they all looked very good and comparable to Samsungs and Sonys that were also on display.

So I'm hoping it's just a matter of finding the right settings and not a defective unit that I have.

If I can't get this resolve, I hope the online seller will take this unit back without a restocking fee or a shipment fee.

Have you tried the preset settings? i tried calibrating it using the recommended setting for "expert 1" and found in most instances the preset was better.
Did you double check your inputs? Are you cables compromised? How do you have your STB and LG hooked up?

Thanks gelly!

I have Dish Network, so I connect the HDMI from Dish to the LG HDMI1. I have a Sony 3D BD player that I connected to HDMI 2. That's all that are connected to the TV. This is the same as how I connected on my old Samsung TV.

I've also tried the settings as recommended for the LM9600 as shown in this article below (I saved this in Expert2):

This one for the LM9600 has much more settings and includes different settings for both 2D and 3D.

http://www.hometheater.com/content/lg-55lm9600-3d-lcd-hdtv-settings.

The other set-up I've tried (see below) was for the LM8600 and I saved that in Expert1 (I use the same set-up for both 2D and 3D):

http://reviews.lcdtvbuyingguide.com/lg-lcd-tv/lg-55lm8600-picture-settings.html

Both set-ups seem to prefer the color temperature to be set to "warm" but I find it to give a pinkish/yellowish look to the picture. I much prefer the "cool" temperature setting which gives a brighter picture but still not as good as I like it to be (or what I have recalled seeing at the different stores).

So on both set-ups from the above links, I've changed the settings to "cool" temperature but kept the other settings. The picture still seems to be "faded" or "pale", not a vey vivid picture.

Do you have the LED local dimming turned on? The 2 settings above has one set (LM8600) to off but the other (LM9600) to set to high, but I really don't see much difference between both settings (LED dimming on or off) or difference betweenExpert1 and Expert2 with the recommended settings from the above links.

Also, is there a way to change the timer on the magic control before it goes to a sleep mode? It seems to default to about 5 sec so I constantly have to wake it as I'm doing the picture settings.

Thanks.

Hi guys! First of all I want to thank everybody for making easier the choice over several tvs I had my eyes on... The LM9600 is awesome!
Now, so you know, SW ver 5.0.0.0 is out and it has the long awaited Amazon app! Other than that I don't know what else they have updated, so if somebody know, could you please post it here? Thanks again.

With 5,00 Netflix recognizes the LM9600 as 3D. Sadly, this just means you can see how truly awful their selection of 3D content is. Before today, the 3D section would show up on my Blu Ray player Netflix app but not the LG app.

How do you browse and find the netflix 3D section?
