Evidently, at the time I bought the warranty was only 1 year, regardless of whether you purchased direct from Hsu or not. Having said that, they still said to send it in and they'd take a look at it, and repair it "under warranty" so no complaints from a customer service standpoint. However, before doing that, they suggested taking it apart by removing one of the port enclosures and checking to make sure the wires didn't become disconnected from the driver (which is what they suspect has happened), and also removing a small panel from beneath the power cord to check if the fuse was blown. So, as soon as I get home, I'm going to do that. As for the repair being moot, I can still return the Mirage, so not the case at all... As for the reliability, I knew when I purchased this was a concern due to all the problems people were having, decided to gamble anyway based on bang for the buck. Evidently, they changed the Amp used in April 2001, which is probably when the 2 year warranty went into effect and the auto-shutoff feature was extended from 5 to 30 minutes?
I'll report back what I find, so that I may be able to help others in a similar predicament. Just hoping I don't have to ship this thing to California, the Mirage is probably cheaper than the shipping!!
