Matrix causes PC display reset

So I'm using a matrix switch to control out puts to my 40 inch lcd, and my 24 inch led. The LED is actually my primary pc display but I like to play xbox, and ps3 on it occasional so this has me using one of the inputs for PC. Now everything works great except when I switch to that input on the monitor it triggers what I assume is an HDCP update which causes my displays to reset but this moves everything to that main display(Icons, windows...) Has anyone had experience with the phenomenon and if so any ideas on a fix?

It's not HDCP, it's the source(s) reacting to a new display, likely with a different resolution, being added to the mix. Is your 24" LED a monitor or a television (I assume monitor). Not following exactly how you have this set up - is the PC connected to the matrix? Or is the 24" LED switching between the PC and the matrix? What else is on the matrix? And what's the "main display" - another monitor?

Guess I'll clarify first set up since I was tired and not clear. Matrix is a 2x4 connected to the outputs are the 24 inch monitor, and my 40 inch led. The sources are the PC, xbox, and ps3. The 24inch is a sony PS3 3d monitor so not sure if those count as monitor or tv. As for different resolutions I do notice when the PS3 switches to 720p for a game from it's 1080p menu I see the same behavior. The main display on the matrix would be the 24 inch screen I use it most often, and on the computer I use it as a primary with a 23 inch LED monitor connected through vga as I've been too lazy to get proper cables for DVI, or convert to HDMI.

Yeah, you're really pushing the compatibility envelope with that setup... HDMI, 3D, PC video, matrix.

Making your other monitor primary may help. Switching the PC output through the matrix will likely cause the PC to believe you've disconnected the primary monitor when you select a different source. The OS tries to compensate by making your secondary display "primary" so you can see your Start menu, etc.

Ya but it doesn't try to convert the secondary to primary the task bar is left on the primary and the computer still acts as though there are two displays I can move windows over from it and to it. Tried switching the monitor over to secondary but didn't change anything.
