Should I use digital Coax for the cables between the AV receiver and external amplifier?

Ok, I am trying to figure out what cable to use from my avc receiver to an external amp. Also what cable should be used for the trigger output from the receiver to the external amp?

If not what are the best price/performance cable out there. Are monoprice cables good to go?

Thank you all!

Pre-out to amp - RCA red/white cables
12v trigger - 3.5 mm cable (see external amp owner's manual as to whether mono or stereo cable should be used)

Forum sponsors Monoprice and Blue Jeans Cables are good sources.
