Adding a external amp

Thread Starter
I have a TX-NR807 . I have only used this amp for a couple of hours (It has been in a box since new, 2 years). My main speakers are Soundlab electrostatics. The Onkyo does not drive these very innefficient speakers well. I am thinking of installing a Emotiva XPA-2 amp too drive these speakers using the pre outs of the Onkyo.Has anyone used this or similar? I would use the 12v trigger to start the Emotiva. Also can I then use the Onkyo mains to drive a different zone? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks Barry

That trigger is only designed for zone 2&3. Stupid design if you ask me, I was hoping to get it to trigger my amp.

I don't know much about your mains, so I can not say what kind of help it will provide. The 807 has enough power to run most speakers, although I'm running a 5 channel outlaw 7500 along with my paradigm studios. I haven't a/b'ed it for comparison, so I can't give you a good answer on the impact
