Help Me to choose ST50 or GT50 or VT50

Dear Experts

Its time for me to upgrade my Panny 42'' X3 to a 65''.
80% I would be using the TV to watch movies and Blue Ray (Day or night), 15 % on netflix or other streaming, 5% may be 3D movies because the TV has 3D functionality. What would the experts suggest knowing my TV watching habbits? I dont care much about the cosmetics - What matters is Quality picture and descent sound.

ST50 or GT50 or VT50 ?

GT50 has the following extra features over ST50 for $300 more

24,576 equivalent shades of gradtiation
THX Mode
1080p Pure Direct
Smart VIERA Engine Pro (Dual core processor)

VT50 has the following extra over GT50 for $400 more
ISFccc
96 Hz/48 Hz
Infinite Black Ultra

Why not look at Samsung? Prices are about the same (especially considering the included 3-d glasses) and it is looking like the are a lot safer with the ir and burn in problems.

You might want to do a bit of background research to get a better handle on the possible / likely problems you may face - both in terms of different technologies and brands.

IR = Image Retention. mad.gif "Burn In" = Permanent Image Retention! eek.gif

As of this time, it appears that the 2012 Panasonics may be more prone to IR than the 2012 Samsung panels - but we might not know that for certain until a larger number of 2012s have been in owner's hands for a longer time (More Hours Used....).

You've also not provided very much information upon which anyone could base a Considered Recommendation: any of the 3 sets you mention could easily be the Right Choice for SOMEONE - as, of course, could one of the top 3 Samsung panels for 2012.

For MY $$, choice would be between a Pan ST50 and a Samsung E6500 - these sets appear to offer the best bang for the buck. But if someone has Unlimited Funds AND / OR wishes to Make A Statement with their HDTV, then the VT50 or E8000 enter the picture....

I'm exchanging the 55VT50 to bring the 60GT50 back home.

Personally I saw that the 55VT50 was on sale and I was thinking about bringing it back to BB, however i went to BJ's to pick up a few things, and I saw the 55" and then I realized I can stand missing out on the extras the VT has, but I cannot live with knowing I was downgrading in Size

What exactly do the extra shades of gradiation do, and what is 1080p pure direct?
