Good Alternative to Bose Speakers?

About to take the plunge on a couple of freespace 51s. Generally I avoid bose kit like the plague because they seem consistently overpriced for what you get but I can't seem to find anything in the same price range which would perform the same function. Need a stool style thing which is pretty damn resilient as it'll be by a pond complete with children, footballs, cricketballs, animals and pretty much everything else you can think of being thrown at it.

Any advice?

What kind of budget are you looking at? This question will pop up alot!

The Bose won't come even close in sound quality and it could probably withstand an atomic bomb.

If you really want to go with that same ugly as sin green stool design (for omni-directional sound I'm guessing?) this is also a much better alternative:

Of course there are more expensive options but these are excellent value and would outperform the Bose by a huge margin.

sorry I should have put that in, budget is ~£500. Flexible by about £100 if there's a serious difference in quality. Cheers

@RTSW thanks for the advice. Unfortunately the TIC doesn't seem to be available in the UK. Any other options? Also have you installed those speakers before or is it off the spec and brand knowledge?

p.s. budget above is £500 per speaker. Obviously something with good bang for buck which is less is welcome too though.

Well, i if you you want to save space, could be the ORB's. A site dedicated to apple products did a review and their conclusion was those orbs outperform a Bose t20 system. Here's the link

I think they can shipped, don't know how much it cost though.
