I know the Benq is much brighter in 2D mode, but the Benq's 3D mode loses lumens.
I was in the same positon several months ago, trying to decide between the HD8300, W7000 and the Epson 5010.
Ultimately, I decided to go with the W7000 after the 1.03 firmware update. IMO, it's a bit sharper than the HD8300 and probably the sharpest projector you can get under 5k. The mid-level Runcos are the next step up, but are much more expensive and have their own unique quirks. Of course, their image quality is in a much higher league as well.
I never did get a chance to demo the 3D capability of the HD8300, but I've heard it's very good. In 2D, the W7000 is noticeably brighter, colorful and has more "pop." Black level and contrast favors the Optoma. Honestly, you'd probably be happy with either projector.
