just bought the vt50--need help with settings and burn

I am curious what the best settings are and if CATS and the motion smoother are helpful or not.

Note I bought it mostly to watch soccer and football.

Thank you in advance for any help as I am by no means tech savy.

Also, any reasons why under custom the 24p direct in is greyed out. it has 60hz listed for now.
