Pioneer Remote VSX 822 K

I have been unsuccessful with attempt to input codes to control other components. Codes are listed in Manual for TV (Emerson Plasma) and Sat/CBL (Echostar). I see no indication on Receiver nor Remote that code input is being attempting. Not sure if I should. Anyone had experience with this remote as to inputting codes?

Emerson switched to a codeset no other tv used before, so the only preprogrammed remotes with a code are remotes released after the tv. And if it keeps upto date code libraries. The echostar can be set to 16 different IR addresses, only one preset into any oem remotes are address #1, check to see what address yours is set to?

Thanks loads.., I have ordered a universal learning remote with backlighting. I think this will work better all around. I believe the problem is with emerson and I don't like it that there is no indicators when programming the Remote. $20 and setup and this problem is history. Weird about Emerson choosing to set codes like that I think.
