Crystal LED worth waiting for?

From looking at posts regarding the Panasonic/Sony team up for OLED people are talking about how Crystal LED is what everyone should wait for.

Is there any truth to this? Will any gains be made by waiting for crystal led tvs that I wont be able to get with large panel consumer OLEDs that are going to start taking over the market in the coming months?

You could be waiting a very, very long time.

10 times faster response time and wide viewing angles, makes it a perfect PC monitor.. I wonder if we can see these things at an affordable level in 2-3years time..

From announcement to real product: 5 years. to something mortars can afford: 10 years.

I would not wait for either technology, if you are happy enough with the display(s) you have now and do not need to replace anything soon. Three years from now, maybe they will be worth comparing.

Both of those new display types may be significantly better than LCD and plasma, but I will want the "crystal" LED technology rather than OLED. The O in OLED is for "organic", and that likely means the panels will have a finite life comparable to how CRT displays get dimmer as they are used (over many hours of course). Non-organic LEDs sound like the ultimate display device to me: Potentially infinite contrast range and viewing angles, the same as CRTs have, without the analog and phosphor limitations.
