Alabama Build

Day 1.
Started from existing framing on Tuesday. Installed the isolation floor, clips, channel, insulation, ran the rough electrical and HVAC. Day 2 will be sheet rock with GG

My partner and staff are on site at the moment. I am in the office getting the rack built and wired (and, unlike several "we'll build it for you" outfits, we're actually licensed, bonded, and insured for this kind of work ... in more than one state).

End of day 2. Sheet rock complete, equipment closed framed, HVAC extensions framed in.
Location, Montgomery.

The window is in the equipment room.

The rack will not be open to the equipment room. There will be access; but, it will not be open.

Mostly. Taping/mudding will finish today (we may have it sealed as well ... depends on temps)

This is not our first dance, so we've worked out a system that out runs everyone. On more than one occasion, we've had to seal the room because we were done and the rest of the project was not.
On this trip, you will not see soffits, coffers, columns. We will take very precise "as built" measurements and build those items in our shop where we have our millwork equipment and paint booth and we have more control over the quality of the end result. We are also very anal about quality. If something isn't right, or the millwork expands/contracts we do return to fix it on our dime (call backs are very rare, however). A high quality end result reduces the risk of a call back. The speed is just a product of: (1) wanting to go home to see families; and, (2) after 15 years of doing it, we kinda know what to do.

OTOH, if the project is in Fiji, Tonga, St. Kitts or the Cayman Islands, we may leave a booboo or two so we have to come back.

Day Three -
Sheet rock in equipment area and closet completed. Sealing/priming today. Seating platform and stage pre-cut and ready for installation. We forgot to leave drywall dust all over everything. BTW, the door you see in the picture is a temporary door. We'll manufacture one of our 300lb isolation doors back in our shop with the rest of the interior elements. Home for the weekend.

Day Four - Scorcher! Working in 100+ temps not a good thing. Steve and crew are home for the weekend. Platform finished, stage framed. Back at it Monday (usually we work through the weekend; but, it is not allowed here and with the heat, not safe either.)

The platform will have a small knee wall in front of it...inside the knee wall on a far side, a retractable flat panel TV.

Short day on Monday. Today we'll spray the primer coat, install the soffit supports, laser the room and be back in Atlanta for the 4th. After the 4th we'll be installing our custom acoustic door, install the softits and prep the room for the interior finishes and trim. The interior finishes will be built in our Atlanta shop while we wait for the home to be ready to move in (we don't want "stuff" installed until the home is occupied). The rack is built and as we wire, we'll post pictures.

So on the fifth work day ... installed all the cleats for the ceiling coffers and soffits and blasted the room with a primer/seal coat. Once the house is a bit further along, we'll return (next week or the week after) to install the doors, soffits, low voltage wiring, and coffers. Then it is wait for move in day to lay the carpet, trim, lights, treatments, fabric and equipment.
