Alabama Build - Page 2

The builder is saying we can have at it Aug 14th rather than Aug 1. We had two spare days, so we went out to get a leg up on a few things. We installed our (meaning we fabricate and manufacture it) sound isolation door .... 300+ lbs.

This was all done on day one.

...so, after a day and a half, the lads go home do some shop fabrication (and build a few doors we need to get shipped).

First time I've seen these doors side on, I always thought they'd be a lot thicker - impressive

Dennis-

Can you provide a little detail on your coffered ceiling. What did you use for the cleats, and is that MDF on each side? Thanks.

If you look at the previous pictures, you'll see the cleats. In this case 2x2. That is certainly MDF you're looking at.

We make a thicker version of the door. One of these days we'll muck one of them up and use it for target practice (just because we're curious).

Is this build no longer being updated? Or did I miss something somewhere?

They probably havent moved in yet I would guess.

I like how the cleats and coffered ceiling is fabricated. Really makes the construction clean and easy! My framer has 10 times the amount of wood in my coffered ceiling lol.

Curious, what did they attach the parallel (to the hat channel) 2x2 cleats to? It didn't look like you had dedicated hat channel for them in the photos?

Sorry for missing the updates. Between the sudden passing of RoseAnne just before CEDIA and Expo, we have been distracted. A close and dear friend also passed last Sunday. We will get back on track.

Very sorry to hear the passing of RoseAnne, I only talked with her over the phone but she seemed like a wonderful person. My condolences.

You can go to http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Erskine-Group-Inc/134577633257657
and see the almost finished room.

Let me add that pattern matching that fabric for the hidden doors (2 of 'em) was not a party.

Dennis, what is that on the ceiling on the Downunder pictures?
