For some reason, posts in general here at AVS seem to be WAY down from what I remember. Maybe it's related to the change in the the forum appearance. I don't know. It does seem extremely odd that only a tiny handful of posts have been generated since this set was released.
But I can tell you that it's getting love in other places. Over at the monsterkidclassichorrorforum, they actually set up a new forum for this set.. Not just a new thread...but a complete new forum. Previously, they had only one forum that covered DVD, Blu-ray and streaming. Now they have one forum for DVD, Blu-ray and streaming plus a separate forum just for the Universal Classic Monsters on Blu-ray.
I can report today that I have viewed seven of the films in their entirety. Only THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN remains. I have encountered no audio video issues at all. I do want to make one observation about THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON in 2D because I know some people have reported it to be problematic. Although mine played absolutely glitch free, I did note that my Panasonic BD-75 did seem to be "laboring" (for lack of a better word) during the last hour of the film. The player would occasionally make the mechanical noise that is associated with the initial reading of the disc...you know how it is when a disc first loads and you can usually hear a bit of clunking an whirring before an image appears. My BD75 did that during playback which is very odd. Again, the audio and video were completely unaffected...playback was smooth with no issues on screen. But it was distracting to hear the player "gearing up" in the middle of the movie. I watched part of it on my PS3 and couldn't replicate the issue. I'm tending to think this is related to authoring but I claim no expertise. What I see described on the 'net sounds more like authoring that is "befuddling" some players as opposed to a defect.
