Get the Infinity's and don't look back.

I like the infinity's better. Had both and sold the Polks.

Infinity

About a year ago, I was considering these two speakers and was able to listen to the Polk M60s and the Infinity Primus p362...Both set -ups were less than perfect!

The Polks, IMHO, were solid speakers and while some have called them slightly bright, I have not found them to be unpleasant or fatiguing. Not quiet as clear and detailed as almost any higher end speakers, but a very good speaker for the buck. I own Polk M40s for bedroom music only 2.0 set up. Good bass extention.

The Infinity Primus are more sensitive than the Polks and about equal in the bass. I felt the midrange seemed fuller with the Infinities. Wasn't overwhelmed by the tweeter in the infinites and felt the Polks did better at the high end, but by a very narrow margin.

I came away feeling that both were good speakers for the money and I bought Polks because they were 1/2 the price of the Infinitys and I didn't think the Infinites were much, if any better. Just my opinion after about an hour of listen (music only) to both set-ups...

Infinity. I have had them A/B and the IMO the P363 have it in the mid-range and by comparison the 70's are ran hot up top (some sizzle unfortunately). Neither are bad speakers but given the cost the Infinities are the hands down win. The 70's could cause some fatigue vs the 363's.

The Polk M70s are 199.00 at New Egg...I cannot find the Infinity Primus p363 for under 300, but only did a quick search. btw, New Egg has the M60s for 119.00 dollars through 7/1/12!

Fry's has been blowing out the Infinity but it is pickup only.

You might want to consider the Boston Acoustics Classic II CS260 and CS 226B and others.

I think they may offer better sound for similar prices; just a thought.

Both are a little hot in the treble, but the Infinity Primus line has a better midrange and seems more balanced, in my opinion (even the two-way models that don't have a dedicated midrange driver). Personally, I'd choose the Infinity.

If Fry's has them cheaper than the Polks, by all means...have at it. I came away just very slightly more impressed with the Infinities, but bought the Polks because it was so close AND the Polks were almost 50 dollars per speaker cheaper...

Primus 363's are currently $199 on the Infinity website.

At $199 a pair it is hard to go wrong with the Infinity's.
Having said that, Newegg has been blowing out the Klipsch WB-14 bookshelf speakers for $199/pair, assuming there will be a subwoofer I would rather have those.
I know the OP did not ask for alternative speaker suggestions but it is hard to resist.

The P363 will kick the Polk's a$$ so badly it's not even funny. eek.gif

I have the monitor 70s. sound great but the tweeters die, no its not just me and no im not over driving the speakers. its a known problem with the polk tweeter. they do have a 5 years warranty but after that 5 years your stuck paying 35 bucks per tweeter every time they die + shipping. so i vote for the infinity.

If you are still looking http://www.frys.com/product/6878376?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG P363 for $110 at Fry's and ships too, so you can get it even if you don't live close to one.

Going to get a pair tomorrow (unless I am really unimpressed by them, and I am easily impressed).

I don't mean to cross-post, but this thread seems more relevant and perhaps the folks in this thread might find these price references useful:

I'm torn between the P363's from Fry's for $110 each (with pick-up) or the Polk Audio Monitor70 Series II for $150 shipped. I have a Yamaha RX-V663 and am thinking for $60 more, I should go Polk because they may be closer to 8-ohm (reading HERE, P363's sound like they're truly 4-ohm).

Also, would these be overkill or not perform ideally for rears as well?

are those p363 at $110 a better deal than the pioneer fs52 at $100?

if so, what is the matching center?

nevermind found it. the center is not on sale

is infinity towers and center setup at $420 worth the extra $120 over the fs52 and matching center at $300?

fwiw, you can answer this question yourself just purchace a pair of the infinity's and a pair of the pioneers try them at your home with your music and dvds for a week or two( an inital $420 investment)and keep the one that you like better and send the other back. ( most stores have good return policies.) then purchace the matching center. this way you wont have any buying remorse
