Switched from 80Hz x-over to 60hz. Suggestions please.

I had been watching movies with 80hz crossover for all my speakers , and every speaker to small.

I tried the 60hz crossover the the bass is alot smoother without any rumbling coming out of the sub.

My setup is jamo s608 5.0 speakers along with JAMO 250 sub.

With 80hz crossover , i was getting rumling sound coming out of the subwoofer ....

My room is 4.3 x 4.6m and the sub is in the front corner near my left front speaker.

Any suggestions ?

+1.

That's what it is all about. You have already determined through experimentation what works best for YOUR system in YOUR room.

Have you actually taken the time to do a proper sub calibration?

What receiver make and model do you own?

Well, those 608 are big speakers, and they have a 10" woofer on them for bass, so 60hz seems like a logical crossover to me. Probably could still use 80hz if you wanted to, but I suspect your Jamo sub is not great at playing up to 80 to 100hz. You might have to turn the sub down if you use 80hz.

The rumbling is probably because the sub frequency range is overlapping the front speakers frequency range too much and the two sound waves are interacting badly with that setup.

You do not want the sub and the front speakers trying to operate at same frequencies, because the two sound waves will invariably be out of phase with each other and create that "rumbling" effect.

If you have an adjustable "phase" control on the subwoofer you can try to adjust it to get rid of it when and if it occurs.

Yep , indeed thats what many people told me.I have always kept my phase @ 0 , so i will try and change it and see how it sounds with 80-over and phase modified.

You may also want to do the crawl test and find the ideal subwoofer placement. If your sub is in a corner or close to a wall you may be getting some boominess from that. You could try near placement. This is why I also recommend a receiver with Audyssey MultiEQ as it would be much easier to get a flatter bass response and better integration with your mains.

I cant do the sub crawl because the SUB power cable/wire is not long enough. Yes , its on the left front corner.
