Sound is faint and crackly all of a sudden..HELP!

I have one issue that I am racking my brain over and i don't know which component it is that is causing the issue...

My stereo consists of:

Thorens TD316 turntable
Parasound 2100 preamp
Cambridge Audio Azur 550C cd player
Sony TC-RX410 Cassette Deck
Hafler 500 Power Amp
Magnepan MMG's

I just built this system...

I bought all of the cables from audio adviser and are all brand new...Just yesterday...

Hooked everything up properly...

It worked at first fine but now all of a sudden when i put a CD or album in, the sound is low and weak and crackly....

I took everything off of the power strip/conditioner and plugged staright into the wall to no avail...

I tried different RCA cables to no avail...

This all started happening when i tried to listen to a vnyl record for the first time..I also installed a new needle...

I even tried taking everything off of the preamp except the cd player and still weak and crackly..The sound does not get any louder..The sound is faint and crackly...

any ideas?

thx!

Since this happens with all sources the next step is to isolate whether it is the preamp or amp that is causing this. I would suggest you access a source to test your amp, you could use the lineout on your computer. Basically you need to isolate which component is at fault by way of substitution. Have you changed the rca cables between the pre and the amp.
