Light Control and FP

I'm trying to determine whether I could do a front projector setup with a drop down screen in this living room?

Ideally I would like to have a screen drop down in front of the fireplace. I would have about 16.5 feet from the back wall to where the front of the screen would be.

The primary viewing time would be early evening or at night

With today's best projectors what type of image could i expect during the day without installing shades?

Does anyone have any recommendations for screens/projectors given amount of ambient light and need for retractable screen? Family Room.jpg 53k .jpg file

In that room, you'd probably be lucky to see anything on the screen during the day without shades, let alone anything watchable. It's really not a function of the projector it's a function of the screen. Essentially look at the white on the walls, that's how dark "black" can be.

I'm thinking your only hope would be something like this:

Oh, and that's a sweet looking room.
