I was looking at routers to upgrade my old G and some recommended a Netgear N900 and a Dlink N900. These routers are supposed to be dual band (2.4 ghz which is a busy band and 5.4ghz). Both cons about $150. I note Monoprice as a similiar router for about $60.00 (out of stock right now) which shows speed of 600 mhz. which would be 300 per band wilst the others are 450 per band. Is it worth the differance in cost?
Got my Asus RT-N66U Dark Knight last night. While doing the set-up, I got a message there was a firmware update, no problem doing the update.......this router rocks. So far very stable & fast. My son will put it to test tonight gaming on Steam.

It would depend on what speed your client devices support. Most likely what you have now won't benefit from the higher speeds due to their hardware, but it will give you a little bit of a cushion for future devices that may take advantage, and some devices you may be able to upgrade if desired.
I have a question about my new Asus Rt-N66U router. I have it standing upright w/stand & no problems. But the design of the unit has the antenna's on top (no problem there) but all the inputs are now on top. Is there "plugs" to put in the 4 LAN & 2 USB inputs not being used right now ? After a time these will have dust/lint etc. Any ideas besides some painter's tape over the inputs ? Thanks
